oh...um guys....ugh i just found this:
"As of May 21, 2010, riders on Expedition Everest will encounter a screen completely covering the inanimate Yeti at the end of the course. This screen will be in place until around mid-June as Imagineers attempt to restore some movement to the Yeti's arm and head - not A-Mode lunging, but at least something more than the simulated movement that is taking place today. According to reports, the only way the Yeti will ever be restored to true A-Mode is during an extensive rehab that could take up to six months."

A113: You have a good point. I guess now that I put more thought into it, I'd never scrap Expedition Everest for a megalite. But if Disney did create a nicely themed megalite, it sure would be one hell of a ride.

I though Disney had a pretty shaky relationship with Intamin after the California Screamin' incident? If so, it just wont happen any time soon, and that's ignoring the fact that Mega-Lites are one of the most Anti-Disney rides around.

Mind you, Vekoma's recent rides look pretty damn neat (Universal Singapore). Well, the ones that work properly do anyway.
Screw Commercialism. It's Dr.Gumbo, not CokeZero.

Who cares about the Yeti? I mean it is totally a symbol of failure for Disney. They know this. When I was there a friend of mine told me that they yeti would have to be completely removed to fix the issues with it. I think they even built the ride around the yeti, hes pretty high up and all. How do you expect them to pull him out?

If the layout was custom, that'd be a different story :)

In my opinion, you go to Disney for the experience. If you want big thrills, go to a Six Flags park. If you are looking for a good story, and awesome effects, go to Disney. If there comes a day, when both of these scenarios can be merged, then that coaster would be the greatest roller coaster in the world.

As for the Yeti, it isn't Disney Like to have the Climax of the ride broken. I do applaud Disney for putting up a screen. It's a good fix for right now. If they don't fix the Yeti, it's not the end of the world.

Mikey,
Expedition Everest has HUGE! and i mean HUGE! maintence* (may be spelled wrong lol) doors on the back. The Yeti would be tooken out of the mountain to do the needed maintence. But, to do this Everest must be shut down. So, as of this result the yeti is going to be put in the Slightly modified "A-mode" until it can be taken out for the whole six month rehab. :D

Sorry for double post, but I gotta question, how thrilling is EE?
All RCCAs should be RMC'd. And that event shall be henceforth known as the Rollercaust.

Expedition Everest isn't meant to be a huge thrill like the rides at other parks nearby. The ride's most thrilling part is the switchback, which isn't even that big a deal (unless you're 7).

Also, has anyone else noticed that it feels like there's a loop in the switchback?

EE is actually pretty exciting. The ride does go 50 mph and includes some unique thrilling elements, such as the reverse helix inside the mountain and a launch forward out of the mountain into the "first" drop. This ride is aimed for families, but it satisfies thrill riders too.

So, yes, EE is very fun.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Actually I also felt that. I asked a cast member and they assured me there was no loop.

The last known full "A-Mode" operation of the Yeti figure was in March of 2009.

So that's why people wouldn't tell me what happened in the switchback. They said it goes backwards and then they wouldn't say anything else.
