No, it is not on the old Astroworld site. Being in Houston I am skeptical of this project, rather because it has been proposed and changed and modified quite a few times. At this point I'm not even sure of its got the funding it needs to get off the ground.

It looks kind of like Disneyland, and I doubt it's going to take off like the website shows.

yeah, it sounds really weird of an idea but what im hoping will happen is it will be built, the whole project will die, and then it will be bought and used with a better theme and a better name(somewhat like what happened to hard rock park and others) because while a green amuesment park isn't really a bad idea, and i think a majority of the forest should be kept, who wants to go to an amuesment park and learn.

And to reply to Jcoasters, i read an article that said this "Each world will include themed rides and educational attractions which both entertain and educate park visitors. Here is where the Disney comparison comes in. EarthQuest should not be thought of as a place you visit for ?????????distraction?????????, but as precisely the opposite. People will visit EarthQuest for entertainment ?????????attractions????????? and the educational element that will be infused. "

EDIT: reading the overview on the website's overview page, it looks like what they did is took all the cool green or almost green ideas out there and are putting it all in one place.

Its too geared towards a certain kind of person. It will fail like Hard Rock Park in my opinion.. and that appealed to more people too..

Hard Rock Park failed because it didn't have any good, marketable, record braking, or chart topping roller coasters.

Think about it, what sounds better to most people, "rock music themed park" or something like "world's steepest drop" or "#1 coaster in the state"?

Actually http://www.screamscape.com/html/proposed_new_parks.htm has lots of good pictures of the model, and by the looks of some of the coasters it will have lots of high thrill coasters, example: the brown launched one in the mountain looks like some kind of blue fire type coaster, which with not even a big amuesment park within a three hours drive of the city this will have good attendence, despite the lack of originality.

EDIT: and looking closer the blue coaster looks like a custom B&M invert or flyer, and the wave pool looks gigatic, like one you could surf or boogie board on hopefully.

If you want to create an amusement park in an area where people want to learn stuff Houston is one of the worst possible places to do it lol
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

^ actually i think the idea is that whether they want to learn it or not, we will shove it down their throughts. I still hope that the theme will change to something more enjoyable.

"so cal" has enough parks already, if we're going to sarcastically relocate this, why not just outside of Fargo, North Dakota? North Dakota has 1 Roller Coaster (under construction), and the state could use a major attraction to boost (if not create) the tourist industry. I'm sure people up in ND really care about the environment, would be genuinely interested in learning what else they could do for the environment, and would fit the roller coasters just fine after taking off their coats and sweaters . . .

well considering that houston has more people in the area than north dakota, id say they would make more money here, but i also think that the reason they are buildin it here is because not alot of people here really care about the enviroment, and with this being the only real theme park in the area they would have no choice but to go and possible learn too.
Anyway I found a few more sites about it for whoevers intrested.

On sixflagshouston.com there is a long forum about it.
although some ideas are not very original and seem overused, there are some that iv'e never seen, or barely seen.

bump. ok. sp does anyone know what happened to this project? I was researching to see if there was any news, because there was a deadline of december, 2013 to secure funding for the project. The website is still up and seems to reflect positive news, but, there is nothing indicating whether investors are actually moving forward with this. http://www.earthquestadventures.com/
