Just brought RCT3 for the mac, done/reprogrammed by Aspyr.

It runs really well right up until i try to place paths, new rides, or delete walls and scenery.
Then the second time i attempt to play the game it says "invalid copy of the game".
I ended up having to reinstall the game, then the same problems repeated.

However i have managed to fire up the game once or twice without the "invalid copy" message.

Anyone had similar issues or have any suggestions?

Note: I downloaded the update off the Aspyr website and it has made no difference wse.

download windows 7 and install it on your pc [:D]
or download something so you can play rct3 in compatibility(in windows) modus. [:D]

I recommend getting a virtual machine and put windows 7 (or any windows) on it, and run RCT3 from there. I haven't tried it personally, but NL gets anywhere from 30-70 FPS on my VM. I don't know what kind of mac you have, though, so it may not be feasible for you. The other option, like marcello said, is dual booting to windows.

yeah but i havent got anything to back up my iMac onto yet, saving up for an external hard drive. So i cant install windows on it yet incase it wipes my hard drive. With a Mac you run bootcamp which divides a section of the disc to allocate to running windows.

trouble is then that my version of RCT3 is Mac, so putting windows on my mac is pointless.

My mac could handle it, its a quad core intel i7, 2.8ghz with a 1TB hard drive and 8GB RAM

that's what I meant when I said dual boot: bootcamp. But, virtual machines won't wipe your drive if you install it with a reputable VM package, i guarantee it. VMWare Fusion is what I use, and it's pretty much perfect.

why use that instead of the BootCamp package that comes with the Mac? Plus like i said my RCT3 is Mac so windows wouldnt recognise it anyway :S

Bootcamp costs money, too, right? I don't think it's actually included...
And I forgot about the fact that you have a mac copy of RCT....I'd say email aspyr and ask them about troubleshooting stuff like this. It's probably a known bug.

BootCamp comes pre-installed on EVERY Mac, it's part of OSX all you need is a copy of Windows XP/Vista or 7 64bit works best with BootCamp and the OSX disc for the drivers, then go to BootCamp Assistant (search it using Spotlight) then pick how much memory you want in your partition for Windows, then press next, it will ask you to insert your Windows disc then once that's in press next and your Mac will restart and take you through the steps to install Windows, should only take about 20 mins, then once you are in Windows after it is installed, put in your OSX disc and follow what it says on screen to install the drivers then DONE!
