I'm going to Indiana for some campus hopping next week. On the way down I'm going to Six Flags Great America (Monday 08/9) and I'm suuuuper amped to get on some new coasters.

For anyone in the area that knows whats up there, are any rides looking like they're down? I'm asking because I really want to make sure Whizzer and Viper are open, and they might be more prone to maintenance as they're older, I'm not sure.

Any other notes helps too. I'm very excited to ride my first Batman and Superman Ultimate Flight (or Flyer for that matter). Oh and my first B&M Mega... I needa get out like this more [;)]

You should meet up with bockzilla, if he can, and coasterkidmwm. [:D]

Oh that's good poop.

CKid, please come meet me! [:D] I'm gonna be alone because my dad's dropping me and going on business, so I need a friend. We'd hit it off...

I was the last Saturday and everything seemed in order, except revolution has been shut down practically the whole season. And btw it doesn't matter what day or when you go, Superman will always be busy, or that just when I go lol.

^^ Nice looking Eagle avatar!

Anyway, Viper is most defiantly not old and prone to maintenance issues, it's only been around for 15 years. But still, make it a must ride, it's one of the most under-rated wooden coasters out there, in my opinion. Good forces, and it rides so smooth.
If you're there at opening, I would suggest starting with Yankee Harbor. Everyone runs to Raging Bull and County Fair Coasters open at 10:30 typically.

Yeah, I wasn't counting out Viper at all. In fact very much looking forward to it.

What is Yankee Harbor? I'm assuming Raging Bull is in there.

No, Yankee Harbor is where Batman and V2 are located.

Revolution has only been open one time out of the 6 or 7 times I've been to the park, in the last few years.

Must rides -
Raging Bull
V2
Superman Ultimate Flight (if you haven't been on any clones)

It's a great park, but that's about it on my list. The whizzer is OK, but I don't get what people see in rides like this. The Iron Wolf is worth a credit, and that's about it. It's a Major head banger. The Demon is fun, just for it's tunnels and neat set up. the ride itself is kind of boring. American Eagle isn't too bad. It's not very rough for a woodie. Viper is also a smooth woodie, that's pretty fun. The Rajun Cajun is a fun little spinning coaster. Raging bull is still in my top 5, because it's just a fun B&M. V2 is pretty intense and the brake on the back spike is awesome. Superman is good for the pretzel loop, but that's really about it.

All in all, I miss Deja Vu. Although it would break down every hour for at least 10 minutes at a time, it was a beautiful coaster and it was also intense.

I haven't ridden Dark Knight, because it was a 3 hour line when I went.

Well thanks for all the help. I'm going to get on all the major ones once and double back for Raging Bull, Superman, and Batman for sure. I have a feeling I'll like AE a lot as well, because that's one of my favorite kinds of woodies. I'll bring a camera.

^Eagle is the best ride in the park IMO. Second coaster ever built by Intamin, first being Jr. Gemini.
