Years back, looking at a coaster with a group of people was nerve racking. I wanted to back out before they say something like "Lets go on!". Overall, thats the reason why I skipped going to six flags few times because I didnt want friends to know my secret fear of coasters so I'd make something up. The one thing that truely broke my fear was when I had no choice but to join my relatives while they went to six flags magic mountain. I went on rides in Great America, but the only ones I went on were whizzer, viper, demon and batman the ride. Still, I was always looking at Raging Bull and the thing looked like something that wanted to kill me. I wasnt afraid of dying or falling. I was just afraid of the feeling. I use to hate the feeling of falling.

But anyway, we went to Magic Mountain and we started off big. I decided I didnt want to fight it. I didnt want to embarrass myself in front of my cousins whom I havent seen in years. So I had to go. We started on X2. And wow, what a start. But after, I loved it. We ran to viper. I was too pumped to be nervous. I went on and it was great! Later we went to Deja Vu' and at first, the screeching of the trains passing by was nerve racking, but still went. Tatsu was next(freakin' amazing!), Riddler's Revenge, many other's til' we got to my final challenge. Go-freakin'-lioth. I almost sat it out til' my sister convinced me to just try it. Since then, I loved coasters.

I use to be fascinated before then, thats why I enjoyed NL, but in real life at the time, it was scary.

I recently came back from my 3rd time at Magic Mountain. Rode all those rides again except scream :(. We had to choose between that and Goliath.

Now I'm trying to get my youngest brother to like them because he's the same way. He hates the feeling of falling. Dont know how to convince him, except telling him I'll buy him something cool. lol[:p]

I used to only ride the River king mine train at Six Flags St. Louis. The thought of riding something like the Batman or Mr. Freeze scared the crap out of me. But, my coaster loving story started the same way as yours. My cousins came, and we went to six flags. Long story short, I loved it, and next year, we rode the Ninja about 31 times in a row. Unfortunately, I don't travel to as many parks as other members do, so I am basically stuck with St. Louis. Still, I love riding any rollercoasters now.

The funny thing about ninja is, the Arrow Parts are fun, while the Vekoma parts bang your head [:D]

i was a coasterphobe up until two years ago when i rode my first "Adult" rollercoaster at Islands of adventure, which was Dueling Droagons Ice side.
before that i lived in Allentown PA and dorney was closests to where i live but i would only ride the kiddie coasters. but that was over six years ago, then the roller soaker opened in 2004 ( i think ) then i rode that. after that i rode the high speed thrill coaster at knoebles, that was the only coaster ther that i road because like Chicano i hated the feeling of falling. fast foreeward to 2008 and the last day we were at Universal Studios my dad convinced ne to ride Dueling Dragons. that was my first B&M. then a year later we went to hershey park and i was following the builld of Fahrenhieght and that was the last coaster we rode and my first intamin. however we rode every ride in the park besides comet, storm runner and wildcat. in august of that year i had my first and only ride on the Big Bad Wolf (R.I.P), and my first ride on the lochness monster. two amazing rides. now im hooked and in here sharing my inspirational story with you guys

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea, but it was insanely fun. And while we were riding that, we met some girls that were going to break the record, and they did. 52 RIDES. Insane. [xx(]

Well,my first real themepark visit was about 2 and a half years ago,but I loved coaster before that(BTW:real means EP and not a regional park with a Zierer Force-One).So I made a strategy to ride the little coasters at first and then going on bigger and bigger rides(sad, but on that visit I had not enough time to ride Silversat, but now I gotta credit on it,and its amazin).Well since it wasvery long ago that I rode a coaster, there was even the happening that a wild mouse thrilled me,but the big final ride for me was Blue Fire,I love the flaws on the wannabe-heartline roll...
Really interresting topic though...

at hershey, I wasnt scared of teh coasters when I was 5 just a little intimidated. A ride on the TrailBlazer got me into roller coasters and then I rode sooperdooperlooper, then wildcat, and I was too damn chickenshit to go on Lightnin racer.

I owe my coaster lovin to Trailblazer

The only coasters that ever made me really scared were my first launched coasters at kd (fof and volcano) because for some reason i didnt mind drops but launches scared the crap out of me. But the only coaster i DIDNT ride for a while out of fear was hypersonic xlc because of that launch. Which still scared me after the first time. But rode them enough and loved launches so much that now they dont scare me. I rode kk and ttd with no prob.

I have never been a coasterphobe. I was when I was 9 unable to work up the courage to ride 2 coasters, but I've never gotten on a coaster and not liked it.

When I was like 8 years old, my mother put me on The Blue Streak at Riverview (defunct park) in Chicago. It was a nightmare. I didn't know what a coaster really was or what it does.

My junior year in High School. Back in 76. An indoor theme park & mall opened called Old Chicago. (also defunct)It had a steel coaster much like Busch Garden's Python. I was scared as heck (reliving my childhood tramma,) but I noticed that nobody eles seemed to be sick after riding and everyone looked like they were having fun. They ran around to the queue and rode again and again. So I gave it a try.

Needless to say, I've been a coasterHOLIC ever since. Steel, wood, it doesn't matter. As long as it's got airtime, I'm lovin' it.

The Old Chicago ride is now at Canobie Lake - it was my first coaster with inversions in either 1995 or 1997.

Never liked roller coasters until I was about 13. I rode Firehawk at Kings island(first coaster with a inversion lol) and became instantly hooked after that.
This is not my signature.

I was a coasterphobe (at least of large, inverting coasters) up until the eighth grade, when a friend of mine forced me to ride Dragon Challenge/Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure with him. Now, I sure am glad I went on it because it was an amazing experience. I didn't become a full-blown enthusiast until a year-and-a-half later, but I consider Dragon Challenge to be the ride responsible for turning me into a coaster nerd.

Was a real coasterphobe for some Anton's loopings when I was small, for the visual reason that they looked like doing loops TOO FAST like only in a flying second, lol!

Became a ride warrior in stages.
-Little kid, scared of all roller coasters
-Not too much later, scared of all 'adult roller coasters.' Kiddie/family coasters were fine.
-Preteen-teen years, started riding adult-sized coasters as long as they did not invert.
-Late teen-present-riding inverting coasters, and nearly everything else. Unfortunately Son of Beast lost its loop sometime during this stage so I never got to experience it with the loop :(
The main reason it took as long as it did was because I have a profound fear of vomiting, and I didn't want to risk getting motion sickness, even if it was something with 1 loop and then was over and done with quickly. I think I might have been more afraid of vomiting than of the coaster itself, at least with the inverting ones.

I was never afraid of coasters. I road my first when i was 5 and it was a Ziere Double figure 8. so not a kiddie coaster. Not only was I not afraid but I was an instant fan and couple wait to ride again and try more coasters.

My niece however while not totally cared did ride Roar-o-saurous at Storyland and scared her. It took another year before she woudl ride it again. but since then she has been on larger coasters.
