In the past, I've used autosupports, but they are just an incredible pain in the ass to clean up, brace, and everything else.

Which do you find easier: autosupports with bracing and cleanup, or fully custom wooden supports?

But how do you transition between the two without it looking awkward?

Full custom supports done CORRECTLY look very good. I'm never doing it again. Each ledger can take 15 to 30 minutes for me at least. What I'm going to do now is just do all simple supports with the auto support generator then go through and fix up the cord's, add lacing, and Bracing.

So much work I wasn't even 1/4 finshed.
This is not my signature.

I always put down the autosupport without any wide structures, just the supports directly below the track. Then I fix the awkward supports, add steel crossover beams and then add the wide structure by hand to the style of the builder. Or I create my own style.

Doing everything by hand looks a lot better, but it costs to much time and effort to make worth it.
