What are they waiting for? [:(!]

Any news for SoCal anyway? Nothing new for Knotts announced? Last I heard they were putting a small kiddie coaster based on the dancing old guy at SFMM.. What gives? [xx(]

Before SFMM does anything they need to seriously fix the rides they already have. From what I've heard %50 of all the LSMs on Superman: the Escape are not functioning properly, causing the train to only go about halfway up the tower. They seriously need to get what they already have under control before they add anything new, much less something on that scale.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

no they do NOT . before they do ANYTHING a full restoration of revolution and a reversal of colossuss' neutering needs to take place.. magic mountain does NOT need another " biggest tallest fastest" anything when they've got one of a kind classics rotting away in the driveway, that would be like someone spending money on a escalade while their '64 impala SS 2 door rusts away .. no thanks..

Yes, they need to work on the oldies they have and if anything, a nice big custom Euro Fighter. In the 3000 foot range, many inversions.

Colossus "neutering" was necessary. It was designed by people with little to no engineering experience and basically copied and pasted from Mexico City's racer (one of a kind???). Everything that Bill Cobb did in the 80s and then SF did in the 90s was needed.

They also need money to get out of debt more than they need new expensive rides.

lol, none of the things mentioned by anyone here seem necessary to me. They all just seem like different opinions of what the individual wants to see, not what the park should do to make more money.

I have ridden the only International Amusement Devices coaster in existence besides Colossus and speaking from personal experience, it sucked. It was one of, if not the most force-less wooden coasters I have been on to date.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

It already has Goliath and Superman: the Escape. Do they really need something bigger than that?

superman the escape is stupid and a waste of energy. Not a good ride in my opinion. the launch is slow, and its not even fun or thrilling. I also think they should remove collosus. The only good part about it is the artime on the second drop and how it runs backwards during Holloween Haunt. They should take both out and put in either a Euro-fighter, a Launched Gertlauer, a GG, or something else epic. In my opinion, about half of the rides at SFMM suck. The only rides that they should keep are X2, Revolution, Ninja, T Salvation, Tatsu (even though it's kinda forceless, its a nice addition to the park and it has great views), and Batman.

Scream: boring except for the helix.

Riddlers: The only good parts are when you get floater on the air humps. The rest is kinda boring, like most B&M loopers in my opinion.

Goliath: A wate of energy, time, coast, and space. Sinse they trimmed the poop out of it on the MCBR, the second half is boring a watching poop get eaten by flies. The turns are slow and forceless, boring, etc. the only plusses of the first half are the drop and the airhill.

Superman: i already explained...

Collosus: i already explainded...

I would much rather go to Knott's any day over Magic Mountain. It has better rides, a much more pleasent atmosphere, and there not just out there to suck you clean. sooo... yeah.

So because Scream, Riddler's Revenge, and Goliath are boring to you, clearly they should be taken out.

Why are so few people using their head right now?

I never said they should be taken out. I just think they are crappy additions to the park and are stupid. But there is no way six flags will take them out because it costs money to take them out and the GP love them

They don't need to do anything except get the park back in shape. When I was there a little while ago the place was a mess...miserable staff, half the rides working and garbage all over the place. I don't know if they've turned it around this year or something but seriously, it was almost worse than Great Adventure..

Yes you did.

"The only rides that they should keep are X2, Revolution, Ninja, T Salvation, Tatsu (even though it's kinda forceless, its a nice addition to the park and it has great views), and Batman."

You didn't forget them because you said why they're not very good in your opinion afterwards, and you didn't include them in that sentence of rides they should keep.

And how is a ride stupid if it succeeds in attracting its target audience? These rides are not made for just you.

I was stating my opinion that they are stupid. And then in the next sentence i stated how the GP likes them so no one cares about my opinon and they're not going anywhere

Imagine just how small a percentage of a theme park's earnings come directly from coaster enthusiasts alone. And then try to think about how little our opinions would influence their decision on what to build in comparison to marketability. A theme park is a business and always has it's own interests at heart.

A park will do whatever they think will sell the most tickets, not what coaster enthusiasts will find most appeasing. Enthusiasts, as a collective, may very well know exactly what makes an amazing ride, but the parks know very well what makes an excellent marketing tool and those two things almost invariably differ greatly.

Almost all of us think that Th13teen is an absolute pile of bullshit, because it most definitely is, and yet it has proved massively successful in attracting guests to Alton Towers.

I honestly wanted another big ride because X2 really isn't that great of a ride... (it's really rough and while 2 of a kind it's very decent) and the rest of the decent rides have been previously mentioned. Oh and if you want to pass out on Goliath Jcoasters when they take out the trims, that's cool by me.

I can't really say anything else, we'll have to see what happens as time goes by and find out what they will announce for Project 18.

^Psh, you of all people know that X2 isn't really rough!!! I mean it can be, but 90% of the time, I have absolutely no problems with it. And honestly, SFMM doesn't need to do anything before they add a new ride...except for getting money for it, of course :P

^I rode X2 once, and it wasn't too rough. The first half of the ride was really good, but the outside raven turn sorta beat the crap out of me. It was a small price to pay for the first drop, which is amazing.

I personally don't think SFMM is in need for a new thrill coaster just yet. They've already got a large collection, so they should work on improving the ones they have. Viper had tons of headbanging in the second half, Colossus wasn't very good either, and Scream's train rattled a lot throughout the ride. So I think they should work on the existing coasters before expanding even more.

I love X2, the first drop is insanely scary. And the raven turn adds more to the G's. I love it. Cant wait to go again this october. But ya, it always happens near the end of the ride, I banged my head on the headrest. And with viper, banged my neck on one of the restraints.
