User 38801xlr8 rated "dueling ancients race again" http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... sp?tid=683 WAY too low. The track did not deserve that low of a rating even for the reasons that he mentioned.

It is a valid rating...only if he can cover himself more.

I'm getting pretty fed up of this guy now. I think the rating is alright if he had explained himself more.

That's what I meant about the valid rating thing. There should be a common rule, not necessarily a manditory one, but for every point you are scoring a coaster below 10, you need to add one more sentence. So, he rated it a 4, so he should have written 6 sentences criticizing the coaster and backing up his reasoning. "IT WAS ROUGH" says jack nothing. We should start offering 'rating' classes. [:p]

I'm not completly sure about that. I think that that thing should start at about 7. If your giving a perfect ten for something, you probably should have lots of good coments. Just saysing "this was the best coaster ever" really isn't enough.

I agree about giving coasters bad ratings means more explanations, but I would also give an average coaster a 7. It takes something very special to get above that in my opinion, but I almost always point out something that needs improvement.

Remember: The point of rating is to help the person out with building coasters so "PURE CRAP" is not valid.

I agree. If you rate a track that you think is bad, don't just say that it as horrible, give them tips, and tell them what they did wrong and what they should improve on and stuff.

I agree with the fact that you should explain what you rated. Give tips on the problems so they can be overcome next time. I do think that that minimum line rating is kinda weird idea. I mean let people rate and we'll and the members will look after it. If something goes wrong we just warn the user and warn again or bann on a second time.
