I think we have a great first drop on our hands. and check out the banner.

I see what this is. This looks crazy. Tight turnaround straight into an airtime hill. Nice.

I spy so much airtime.

Wow. This before a tight low helix sounds good to me.

Wierd trains, but lap bars and an awesome layout and awesome drop. Plus what looks like lats and airtime.

Fail as far as the banner goes. As far as the trains and rides, I think the trains are cool but maybe not for a half wooden coaster like Tetsu said, but the new (new?) layout looks like it's going to be really fun.

To be honest, Th trains are awesome!!! the only thing that could make them better is multi colored graffiti...every time I see the trains it reminds me of my trip on the I-40 passing Cadillac Ranch just east of Amarillo.

It's so.....awkward. Looks too weird imo. I'm sure it'll ride wonderfully, but it's strange to look at, that's for sure.

Are they welding the joints in between the rails so its one continues piece?

The forces on this ride look like they will be really wild. But am I the only one thinking that it might be kind of painful too, with the crude-looking transitions and all? This looks like it might not be very smooth, and beat you up somewhat.

Looks to be bolted and tightened together.

It looks smooth, just odd. Seems to me like it's just a different style of building.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

I believe they're just being bolted together like railroad tracks. In the original designs from the website of the company doing it the bolts stuck up above the track, not giving lots of room for free movement of the cars like on a real woodie. It looks like they've reduced the height of the bolts from the original designs but it's still not a lot of room to move.

Interesting that the Rocky Mountain Construction Group's website has changed quite a bit since I last looked at it. They now call this track type the I-Box but they still don't give much more information on it other than marketing blurbs about how much better than steel-on-wood rails it is. They are also promoting another type of steel-for-wood track replacement called the "Topper Track" where the top L section of the wood track is replaced with a steel box. They don't have any rides that are going to use it listed.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Texas Giant is going to ride... it's looking... interesting.
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

If those bolts are indeed going to stay there, it certainly doesn't provide much room for any ut ohs. I hate to see what kind of damage a train would get if it ever struck one of those joiners.

What are you all talking about? The joints are there to roll over to keep authenticity of woodies...

Duh.

American Eagle uses just the opposite from its first drop to the top of the helix: The top two layers are wood, and the rest is a steel I beam.

EDIT: And it appears that TREMORS will be the first to receive this "topper track".
