The park formerly known as Six Flags New Orleans or to park fans SFNO will be razed in January and sold for scrap. See video for details.

It always surprised me that they didn't try to move the boomerang somewhere. Perhaps they'll dump it in SFGAdv or something in the future. They sure got their Batman out of there in a hurry!

That would make an awesome Zombie film set!

Credit to Teddy Smith for making an amazing video.

Someone had to have hijacked all of the copper wiring by now.

This is nothing but a giant middle finger to roller coaster fans, the park had potential to reopen to its former glory but no. Six Flags was in for the money like it always was.

love you Corperate America, love you.

It's a business. If you're not in it for the money, you go out of business.

Is Six Flags going to get the remaining rides out of it? If not, that's a LOT of free marketing they're missing out on...

I doubt anything left there is worth saving. After sitting for the better part of 5 years with no work going on the rides left behind have undoubtedly degraded beyond repair. Also, I believe SFET terminated the lease when they went into bankruptcy. Now the city owns the land if I am not mistaken.

Aw, what a shame! I should have visited when I had the chance. Megazeph really looked like fun... a lot like my old favorite woodie, The Villain. [:(] I wish they could have done something with it besides selling it for scrap. Such a shame.

"Although a video making the rounds on the Internet says that the theme park is scheduled for demolition next year, city officials say there are no plans to demolish the Six Flags Amusement Park and an offer to redevelop the site is still pending. Despite a graphic on the video indicating otherwise, the city says the shooting was not authorized."

Seems like SFNO will remain...

Alright, I just read on wikipedia that Southern Star INC is still working to save the park, so now we got conflicting reports.

NO way cedar fair kills off potential competition to their flagship parks. And in this economy thats pretty much everyone besides Busch and Disney to them.

I hope that they don't raze the park. I was interested in making a trip once it reopened. My dad does business down there and his company has done alot to rebuild the airport down there and he has video of the park from the road from I think 2008 when he was one a trip. He did say that if the park ever reopened he would take me one day, so I hope it can be rebuilt at some point.

I just went onto wikipedia and they said southern star is still trying to save it. I'm just happy they didn't turn SFNO into a nickelodeon theme park, now that would have sucked.

^And of course, if Wikipedia says so, that definitely makes it true. [:p]
