LimeWire is under a court order dated October 26, 2010 to stop distributing the LimeWire software. A copy of the injunction can be found here. LimeWire LLC, its directors and officers, are taking all steps to comply with the injunction. We have very recently become aware of unauthorized applications on the internet purporting to use the LimeWire name. We demand that all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so. We further remind you that the unauthorized uploading and downloading of copyrighted works is illegal.

Torrents are insecure as hell and are basically an open invitation for your IP to get collected by Big Media Inc. to threaten litigation against you, though both problems are reduced by using peer filtering software such as Peerblock. Still, a better, anonymous system for file sharing is clearly needed.

As for Limewire, the company's dead but all that really means is that people will start hacking the software around (i.e. to remove ads) and the network created by the software obviously is not going to go away.

The Internet is not bound to profit interests of big media cartels who want to control everything. No matter how many systems they shut down or how many broke college students and grandmothers they sue hundreds of thousands of dollars off of, it's not going to stop anything. Limewire does not depend on Limewire, LLC. It depends on those who use the software.

I guess I'm the only one that uses Itunes? But yeah, I stopped using Limewire when I got a really vicious virus that nearly killed our computer.

Nope, I use iTunes. I'm a law-abiding person. lol. I never really got into the whole pirating music and poop. Now, I will go ahead and download a YouTube video every once in a while if I don't think the song is worth my $.99 or whatever, but I generally buy the songs I want.

iTunes is a joke. Buy your music from CD's and go to performances to support artists, rather than supporting a piece of crap DRM riddled system that tells you where you're allowed to play your music that you paid for. Oh, and paying for anything less than full, lossless/uncompressed quality is also stupid considering the very fact that you're paying for it.

As for viruses, it helps to keep antivirus software up to date and to avoid downloading 3kb "PC games".

Youtube .flv to .mp3 conversion is by far one of the worst methods of getting music; it's tedious and the volume is almost always love up in some way. That said, it is the safest method and is far better than using mp3 search engines which usually can only find like 1000 songs total out of the entire damn internet.

I just make youtube playlists for my music.

Essentially I'll do anything to avoid installing iTunes because I'll be damned if those Apple jacknuts are going to tell me what "devices" I can play my music on and when.
