Well...

Following the guitarist thread, I am curious to know who here is a DJ, a DJ in the making, or any other variation of the subject. I have been DJing for about a year now, and just as x-mas rolls around, this brand new beauty has been released:

Guess who's getting that for x-mas?

I'll give you a hint: Me. [:P]

Also, who here is a producer? I'm an Ableton user, just recently switched from Fruity Loops Studio as it was beginning to have some major problems with layering sounds and frequency control.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

I DJ, With a Numark Omni Control and Traktor Pro. Its aight I guess, I wanna go Vinyl or CD though. Thinking of getting some CDJ350 next year or could go for Technic SL1210's. Haven't decided which yet.

I also produce using Cubase 5.

Some of my stuff on Soundcloud. I've been updating it quite often recently. I mostly make Hardcore, Hardstyle, Early Hardstyle and some cross genre stuff.

^ Lol, ironic. I use Traktor Pro and Total Control.

As for the songs, I'm actually a pretty big hardcore and hardstyle fan, but I like prog-house and trance better. Teh Mau5 and Tiesto ftw!

Your songs sound pretty good, I love the hard hitting synth that compliments the hard bass.

You could do a Jayman, and go hardware, or get something like Cubase, FL, Ableton and get some VSTs and learn the synthesis of what you want to make.

I have to agree with that one.

DJ?????????s have a tendency to get over rated by the media. Anyone who touches a turntable or CDJ these days instantly becomes a pro.

I've seen Residents mash the play and pause button of an inactive deck to the beat, fiddle with the cue cross fader or switch, turn the FX on and off while the knob is still at dry, all in order to create the illusion that they are actually doing something musically.

The only musically talented live performers are the people who create a complete original soundtrack using the devices at hand. The term for such a person using DJ equipment is known as a Turntablist. The deck almost never plays but scratches to create something else.

My friend showed me this guy called DJ steve porter. He takes regular videos and remixes them into a song and is very well done. It made my friend by a slap chop salad maker if anyone knows them.

And here's the original sketch where he bitches about DJs (I prefer to watch the song first and than go to the stand up, but I cant say I did it the other way around)
