The park wouldn't be stupid to buy a product thy won't work. It would make the RMC look bad if something did happen, and they would go out of buisness because no one is buying what they are selling. The wheels will NOT hit the bolts.

WTF are you talking about?

The original steel running rail is half the size of the new one. AND you can even see bolts in this picture, and the train is clearly not hitting them.

The problem is, if the trains hit the old steel rail bolts, it be just a hard jolt, they are wwwaaayyyy smaller than the new bolts and spaced closer together, so it is possible that the train did hit the bolts on occasion, lateral forces change depending on certain variables. All I am saying is one small miscalculation and the new track is a recipe for disaster greater than any Japanese coaster accident.

The road wheels do go off the steel track occasionally, but it's nothing bad. The biggest cause of that happening is probably wear and tear from the guide wheels. If it's made of steel, the road wheels won't hit the bolts. If it was possible for the train to hit those bolts sticking up, the park wouldn't of invested in that product.

Right because no new technology has ever experienced problems or unexpected consequences...

That being said I believe they are also putting in steel braces that go under the track between the rails to keep them from separating, which is the only way the wheels could eventually hit the bolts. I'm wondering what the jolt at the transition between the steel and wooden rails will be like though.

I couldn't figure out why they didn't just weld the rails together and not need the bolts, but then I remembered that they aren't changing the rolling stock for this so the cars still have steel wheels. Steel on steel. They're probably expecting to have to replace that top plate once in a while.
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

It looks like a n00b in Newton decided to make woodie and called it "Texas Giant". The more I see of this ride, the more the whole ride looks like that, to be honest. [xx(]
The support enclosure is pretty, though. I will say that.

Looks to me like collateral damage from a personal vendetta against a former employee that ultimately resulted in the destruction of Texas' #1 wooden roller coaster and the ousting of an useless executive officer.

I guess the good news is they didn't try to burn it down like Mean Streak.

Rattler - Almost Dead
Texas Cyclone - Dead
Texas Giant - Dead
Judge Roy Scream - Needs some work to keep it from valleying on a regular basis.
Boardwalk Bullet - Needs a bullet to the head for being so painful that it is basically unrideable due to the choice of seat dividers on the trains.

So as you can see from the state of wooden roller coasters in Texas, that means its a toss up between Bullet & Rattler, both of which may cause severe trauma or death. On second thought, maybe Judge is #1 by default since the other two suck.

Maybe they would need less work on them if everyone in the state wasn't so morbidly obese and beat up the track so fast.

I know they're almost all terrible, that's why I said it Mikey. Even if it was the best woodie in Texas, that's nothing to brag about...and it means everything else is really lame, because Texas Giant wasn't all that great before this change.

Well I actually quite liked Texas Giant when I first rode it (about 2-3 years ago) but I almost refused to ride it more than once in a day because it was just way too rough. However, I'm looking very optimistically (not sure if that's a word) at this renovation, and I really like the look of it so far so I'm hyped

Texas Giant was responsible for making Six Flags Over Texas what it is today, for the rapid expansion from 89-01. The day Titan came into operation, The Texas Giant was no longer a priority for the park. It's attendance and maintenance programs suffered (up to a point where people were quitting) which ultimately lead to is demise. I do not see The New Texas Giant fulfilling the legacy that the original left behind, but only time will tell.
