Having just gotten back from Six Flags Over Texas, I decided it would be a nice idea to write a little trip report on the park, but I unfortunately did not get any pictures as; 1. It was night time and I couldn't get any good resolution pictures, and 2. It was about 30 degrees there. Hands in my pockets the entire time.
The park is one of the more spectacular looking parks, but not the easiest to find your way around, and it's for sure not the smallest park Six Flags has ever made, even though it was the first. I must say though, the rides there are pretty goddamn spectacular, and pack a MAJOR punnch.
OPEN RIDES:
Titan - Amazing coaster, even though I've been on Goliath @ SFMM. The 540* helix is a really addition to the ride with the constant headchoppers and the such. There were virtually no lines, and got a back seat ride twice, only waiting about 5 minutes in between each ride. The drop never ends, and provides constant floater all the way down with your stomach in your chin, and the floater hill after the turnaround is a really fun addition.
10/10
Runaway Mountain - Lol coaster at best. It's just a Zamperla Hurricane ride? (Like the one at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk). Nothing special, but I did notice it was much smoother.
5/10
La Vibora - A little bobsled coaster that swings you side in a bobsled track. Meh, nothing too special, just a good old fashion bobsled coaster.
7/10
Superman: Tower of Power - This is a damn good S&S tower. It launches you up 325 feet (which is wayyyyyy taller than you can imagine. I promise), gives you the -1 G airtime, slows you down, then cranks you back to the top for an Intamin drop tower factor. Great S&S tower.
10/10
Tony Hawk - That was a damn fun ride! My cousin and I sat across from a (bigger...) couple and we spun the living crap out of the car. Needless to say it was the best spinner ride I had ever been on. The layout was amazing as well, and I love how there is no block brake in front of the tight, spinny turns.
9/10
Shockwave - This was our weirdest coaster ride. We waited in line for about 30 minutes, got up to the station level, and every single seat was packed with at least 3 rides to go before we could ride, accept for the front seat. We got on in 1 ride, and it was the front seat. Wtf right? Anywho, this ride was actually, and without a doubt, love amazing. You crank your way to the top of the lift, hold for a sec, and the ride to the loops. The airtime on this ride was insane! Every hill had my cousin and I out of our seats. Loops were fun too, and having never been on a Schwartzkopf coaster, this was a definite winner.
9/10
Runaway Mine Train - Wee! First coaster of its type, and it actually does not disappoint! A little bit painful at times, but all n all it really captures the mine train feel, and the last drop of the ride into the tunnel is pretty killer.
For what it's worth... 6/10
RIDES CLOSED:
Mr. Freeze - This betch was closed. We got to take a pretty look at it's glory though, and it's a sexy looking ride. Especially that inverted top hat. Sexy sexy sexy.
Batman (B&M Invert Clone) - Closed. But it's a Batman clone, and most people know what they are like. For those of you who don't, there forceful as hell, and pack a major punch for such a compact coaster.
Drum Roll Please....
TEXAS GIANT: Obviously closed, but I got a great look at the coaster from the top of Goliath and Superman. I have to tell you. The pictures LITERALLY do the ride no justice. To start off, the only track missing at this point (or so I saw) is the station track. There is a really long section between the station and the first turn, and that's not in place yet. When you are either heading towards or away from Titan, you get to see the INSANELY tall lift hill. I mean, this is the tallest wooden coaster I've ever seen. Then moving onto the drop, omfg is all I can say. The ejector in the back seat is going to be nucking futs. I promise you. Then you couldn't see much of the ride afterwards except for the crazy overbanks, and amazing turns. I wasn't quite looking forward to this ride to begin with, but hands down this is going to be the world's craziest woody.
A little side note... We took a side trip to a place called Zero Gravity where there are slingshots, bungee jumping, and a net drop. I only rode the net drop, but let me tell you, that poop is INTENSE. It was so intense, I have a video. [:D]
The best definition of free fall around. Intamin drop towers got nothin' on this bad boy.
Well... That end's the TR. If I happened to miss anything, please let me know and I'll respond with some more detail.
