let's have like 5 or 6 judges? That way, you could take a decent mean or average of all of the ratings and whether or not people thought 2, 3 or 4 of the judges were "bad judges", you would still have ratings that even the most picky people would be happy with. Well, some people are never happy but still [lol]

Why only one or two judges? That one judge will either make you or break you. I would rather have three judges, maybe even four.

That's how it usually is, and it's not the judge that will make or break you; it's your ride (hoping of course that the judge is a sensible and knowledgeable one...). I do agree that an oligarchy of judges would be a good idea though.

I like Gerst's idea of only having one or two. That way it will stay simple and we dont have to wait on ratings for months from X judges. That said, if I had to say which two judges would be the best to do this, ckmwm and Jake. They judge and hyyyper runs the show. Then again, its not my call to make.

Only if you make sure the judge isn't a Newton snob.

It would be good to have many judges where each judge held different opinions on subjects such as hand building and newton and other tools, then you would porduce a well rounded group of opinions on each ride, negating individual judges beliefs.

Why would it be hilarious?

As far as GCI's go, their own designers choose to make them god awful tree genocides, not you.

Sorry if Newton tracks generally tend to suck ass. Build one that doesn't suck ass (for examples of this see Exhibit A: Jakizle) and then it won't be terrible.

Besides I can't tell the difference between FVD and newton tracks to begin with anyways, and I've seen handbuilt tracks with the AHG that came out better than the above tools.

Everything is relative. Don't build a terrible ride and I won't think it's god awful.

Crazy idea, but what about the idea of a 2 category tournament? As you all know, there are 2 types of people on this site; The handbuilders, and the newton, or force based builders. It's seems unfair to have a handbuilder judge a force based builder, and vice versa. Either that, or hire 2 judges from each category so the tracks may be judged fairly and respectably. Those are just my 2 cents.

I would actually like the two categories and have a 'grand finale' at the end.

I like how you felt no need to mention the overwhelming majority of handbuilt tracks which suck ass. This is exactly why you shouldn't be allowed to judge.

Why the hell does it? Just because someone builds with a certain method doesn't automatically put them at hostility towards other methods... There is this behavior called 'civility' in which there should be no problem existing amongst all designers.

I myself appreciate a good ride (thoroughly...that is) no matter how it is built. I'll simply put that not many designers know how to make that kind of ride with Newton, just like not many designers know how to make that kind of ride with any other tool... I see no reason for bias or favor to one or another method.

I don't care how you build you ride...the most original layout that is realistic and built FAIRLY well should win.

I'm more than willing to judge so those who deserve to win FINALLY do win!

I would like to judge. I'm not a notable builder, but I don't have a bias and i know when a ride has spark and flavor. I'm not the kind of guy who thinks a poor CCI should win over a great B&M because I like CCI's better.

I agree with you. However, in my experience, CKMWM seems to combine a heavy bias against Newton with a complete lack of said civility, and therefore IMHO should not be allowed to judge an official contest.

There's also that bias against GCI mentioned earlier. They're designed to be high quality rides that satisfy a certain demographic, and just because someone doesn't like them doesn't mean they're bad rides. They achieve the goal of being at least somewhat exciting for most thrill seekers, but with forces and tracking that's family friendly.

Too much bias there. Pick Jakizle.

Curious, hyyyper, other than adding a judge what are you doing to make sure the contest won't end up being as bad in some respects as it has in the past?
