From screamscape.

[img]According to sources, GhostRider??????s mid-course brake has been cranked up for a few reasons, but the primary reason is that once again GhostRider is in the process of tearing itself apart. Cash for a major and much needed overhaul was not in the cards before the 2011 Summer season, so maybe by 2012. In the meantime, you can expect the ride to come grinding to a near-halt here for the foreseeable future.
For a good example of what happens now, check out this new video posted on YouTube, taken hand-held by a couple of gals sitting in the back row. To avoid the unnecessary screaming and shakey-cam footage, jump ahead to about the 1:20 mark where the girl holding the camera responds to the sudden stop with a ??????We??????re stuck!?????? comment. Then compare it to this much older POV footage of GhostRider running through the same brake run (0:40) without so much as a hint of the brakes even being used at all. [/img]

Enjoy your slow and painfully rough ride jayman. Once the season starts, I'll be riding a real wooden coaster with no trim brakes...El Toro. Can't wait :)

Texas Giant Makeover: Ghostrider Style.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

Hey, at least it doesn't make a complete stop smack in the middle of the ride, or before one of the best drops.

It's cool though, I have Boulder Dash not too far away, I can just go ride that if El Toro isn't wooden enough for you. :P

It's fun to tease you about these things haha

Ghostrider sucked. I'm glad there are rumors/talk of re-tracking going around. CCI had a horrible track record with coaster durability. Ghostrider will improve significantly if re-tracked.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

The first few years it opened, it was #4 ride in the world. It has been left to rot and is now #55, old, and rough.

thy probabally will do worse to it. cci made "custom" rides, not generic run of the mill stuff, hence their rides, like anything else "boutique", required more maintenance than others. sort of like if you buy a classic muscle car, you cant expect it to keep going without extra maintenance like you would a honda rice rocket, the trade off is you have something unique and real.

What's so custom about their rides other than the track layouts? They mostly run the same PTCs everyone else does. If you could elaborate that would be great, because as is I'm skeptical of your explanation.

I guess custom layout is not enough? If they were doing nothing but clones, like the batman clone series that B&M does, then they shouldn't have custom in their name. Anyway, they are custom made for their customers, so yeah, quiet you! [}:)]

Notice how I said "durability"...

I've been on CCI coaster: Cheetah at Wild Adventures. I rode it before GCI retracked it, and it was awful to say the least. I also rode it after GCI retracked it, and it was incredible!

A retracking will definitely mean the same thing for Ghostrider just like Cheetah.

Yeah, I wish they would just give it a heavy overhaul.
