Can PART of a lift segment go outside the electronics area if the part which would have the actual motors IRL remains inside it?

I guess the rule is that lift segments must be in the red area.

Nope, it has to be entirely inside the red area. Besides, most lifts have sensors at the end to see when a train starts it's run.

Crap, I forgot that my MCBR had to be inside the red X as well. Now I have a pointless straight part in the middle of my ride and no MCBR.

The rules don't require an MCBR, however, capacity is important and on a ride with 8 riders per train, an MCBR is a useful tool.

It depends how big the park is.... Spongebob usually runs two trains.
