Oh. so that suddenly makes you an expert on how well they navigate a track layout HAHA J/K but seriously, I sat in a maserati, but, that doesn't make me an expert on how they drive.

Uh I did have a short conversation with Mike Graham about how they rode...since he is one of the few that has ridden them.

Wait, was this after he actually rode it?

Speaking of the Timberliners, how was your first ride in the new trains on the Voyage? Did it ride like you expected it to?

The first ride on the Timberliners on the Voyage was very rewarding. It was great to share the experience with William Koch III as well as the Koch and Holiday World family. The ride itself was quite different while still being the same Voyage. Through the twists and turns, in particular, the train glided effortlessly. For the most part, it did ride like I expected it to, and riding it also helped to identify additional aspects of the car that we want to tweak.

i dont want the crap needlessly beat out of me, but "effortless gliding" is exactly what i dont want a wooden rollercoaster to do. i like frantic "holy crap will it stay on the tracks this time?, holy crap am i going to be thrown out on this turn?" moments from wooden rides.
i like effortless gliding too.. but thats why steel coasters were invented

I agree with Jay also. I would like to, at the very least, watch POV footage of the timberliners in action before I would comment any further, though.

But both me and Jay expressed our concerns to Gravity Group themselves, when they first annoucned this. They spoke to us initally, but then seemed to just stop talking about it altogether as if they'd realised something. Either that or they just decided to ignore us [lol]

I'm not saying that anything we said would have changed what they have done in terms of development since then (this was before they'd ridden them, themselves), but it would be nice to think me and Jay might have made a postive contribution to them keeping the "wooden coaster" feeling.

Therefore, I'll wait until at least one of you guys has ridden it with the Timberliners before I'll pass further judgement!

As long as it still delivers the speed forces and out of controll feeling ride it used to, then it can glide as effortlessly as it wants! I just want this to ride as well as it did with the ptcs, becuase i will never get to experience those ptcs.

"out of control feeling " and "effortless gliding" are the complete opposites of each other .

I like to effortlessly glide in my car as I keep that out of control feeling.

They are not. Ride Boulder Dash (or a modern GCI) and you'll know why

i did .
i rode terminator( possibly a horrible example) it " glided effortlessly". at no time did it seem out of control . ghostrider on the other hand seemed completely out of control , even when it was near new. it never " glided effortlessly " it always seemed to be fighting to stay on the tracks .
its a matter of preference. id rather drive a 56 ford down a stretch of old highway at 90 mph with a bench seat and no seatbelt than a ferrari at 200 mph in a bucket seat with a 5 point harness on a race track .

Ghostrider not only feels way out of control, but, it feels like it is starting to fall apart. The padding they recenty added to the trains only makes it worse, but, That is what wood is all about....so long Voyage and Texas Giant, 2 wooden coasters that will never again ride like a wooden coaster. Also, yeah "out of control," and "effortlessly gliding" ARE exact opposites

^ Not on Boulder Dash. That ride IS out of control and effortlessly flies through its course.

From Paula Werne, Director of Public Relations at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.

As promised, here is an update about the Timberliner trains for Voyage:

In 2011, The Voyage will use two seven-car PTC trains (The Raven will have two six-car PTC trains).

The Timberliner models tested here in 2010 will be upgraded after similar models are used at other parks this season. Because of the extreme speeds and forces on The Voyage, we feel it is better to wait until there has been a full season of Timberliner-use elsewhere (on less extreme coasters which were designed with Timberliners in mind). GravityKraft will then refurbish our trains so that we'll have the most up-to-date models.

We intend to introduce Voyage?????????s Timberliner trains at the start of the 2012 season.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Paula

Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with that, even though I prefer smooth wooden coasters in general. This way I will (hopefully) get to experience "old" Voyage before the new trains get put in place. With any luck, I'll also get to experience the new voyage next year!

Am I just weird here? I'd MUCH rather go with the second option! Not to mention the insane turns and G's you could pull on the Ferrari.

I think Holiday World's CCI's have the perfect roughness. GCI's are tamer, but I still think they are great. As for the Timberliners, we'll just have to see. Apparently they will traverse the course faster, meaning more airtime (I'm hoping).

And if they are smooth, I'm still going to love the Voyage IMO.

I like the PTC trains. They look really good on a wooden structure.
