Definitely cool, especially for a prototype.

It's a prototype, I know. It looks like they're taking the Wing-rider concept to B&M. I haven't been following this thing that closely, and i'm sure as hell not gonna go back 3-4 pages to see the official stats of what it is. So I apologize for asking that I guess. [lol]

I am still very impressed by this coaster, even after watching the video over and over, and I'm even more excited to see how Thorpe's turns out.

I'm curious to know what has happened to B&M in the past year. If you look at all of the B&M's that are being built, a good amount of them are THEMED rides (Raptor, Krake, Manta, Thorpe's New X-Wing). One of the more recent B&M's, Manta, has a FANTASTIC theme, and was one of the top rated coasters of the year. They also have Krake, Heide Park. It's awesome to see that B&M is bringing back the old diver style, and incorporating it into the newer age diver. Not only that, but dropping into the mouth of a HUGE Kraken? That's a little out of the ordinary for them...

Idk. I just thought it might be worth mentioning.

--EDIT--

Sorry, I meant to add Manta as an example of a nicely themed B&M, not as one being built. Don't want any confusion.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

^ Surely that's down to the park?

I understand that all parties concerned are involved in the devlelopment of the themeing and other such related areas, but at the end of the day if someone asked B&M to build them a coaster with no themeing at all (just in a parking lot), then B&M would surely do it? B&M produce a product and the final product is determined by what the customer asks for.

Huh, alright then. I just thought it might be worth mentioning, but I had my facts wrong. Oh well! Life goes on.

^ The theming is purely down to the park, yup.

What's more interesting is the new shaping in recent rides and the unusual layouts. Star Night Ripper's 540* zero-g roll for example, not to mention it's vekoma-style double corkscrew. Then raptors strange shaping and heartlining and also (if it happens) Parc Astrix's invert which doesn't have a predrop and seems to wonder round the terrain in a very un-structured, un-B&M way! Then there's krake's vertical drop straight into a water splash, and Thorpe's dive-loop-first-drop.

Everything about all these new B&M's is just a little different, it's refreshing from a company, that's seen by the community as being very structured and set in it's ways for the past decade. Although non of these rides seem to push the boundries in terms of force and fast direction changes (the route Intamin seem to be making), their gracefulness and new element have really excited me.

It's just a very nice change of pace to see B&M expanding their horizons, and stepping out of the "loop, dive loop, 0g, cobra, mcb, cork, cork" layouts.

I don't think Raptor has any heartlining...the shaping is weird though. Definitely not unexpected given the gradual (then a bit abrupt at one point) changes in their designs.

I don't think that Wingrider's can have heartlines... Well they can, but it would be 0.

I'm sure they have heartlining. For example, B&M sit downs have heartlining, although the outer seats are far from the heartline. It would be the same with the wingrider, just you would have to make the transitions more gradual so it is less abrupt forces on the laterals

The basic definition of a heartline is a line that is directly centered between the two rails of track horizontally, and is at the average level of a human's heart, vertically. I say a heartline at 0 meters because of the way the trains are setup. Let's say you have a flat heartline roll on a B&M sitdown coaster. It goes through with the train rotating around the heartline at 1 meter. Now take that SAME EXACT track with the same heartline and put a wing rider train on it. The seats will not only rotate around the track, but also around the predetermined heartline. This would create unwanted positive or negative G's because of the extended heartline, and the fact that the seats are sitting slightly below the track level.

I hope I explained that right.

It looks like it has a heart-line above 0 meters. I'm assuming B&M did put the heart-line value related to the seats.

Yeah. They are smart because heartlining with that wide of a train would cause unnecessary roughness or shuffling in transitions, as the trains would have to manuever more curved transtion, and it would be felt that far away from the track.

What part of the ride makes you think there's a heartline? Keep in mind, the rolls (particularly the first...I'm not looking at a picture of the second right now so I won't comment on it at the moment) may not be designed to have 0g, which would mean the track path would be straight from the top view. If they have the roll over a length of track that goes from 3G - .4G - 3G, then assuming no laterals (not speaking of those created by the wide trains) the path would absolutely be an S curve from the top. It's the same principle as a corkscrew, but less drastic.

As noted, the heartline as we know it is the height about which the track rotates, and that's generally the average height of the rider hearts above the rails. If the riders are directly on the side of the rails, then why use a nonzero heartline height?

I agree with dcs:from pics,it doesn't seem to be heartlined.I simply took an example looking at the Hydra 0groll and the Raptor's one.The last totally lacks of that typical sinuous shape, certainly due to the kind of trains. With external seats all the maneuvers change and B&M considered it in building that element.Even the inline twist seems to have a weird shape...it's hard to catch it but, from a video, seems to give a total feeling of "ejecting" out from your seat.

I think there is a heartline for the zero-g roll, but no heartline for the in-line twist, I'm trying to work it out, but is it possible they vary the heartlining?

Look at LC12's zero-g and wingover for example, they look like standard (albe it drawn out) B&M elements which I would've thought required a heartline. If you look at the diveloop drop there does appear to be some form of heartling as the track moves off to the right to allow for a twist to the left. It is very slight though. Then the final in-line appears to have no heartline at all.

Confusing. But my conclusion is that the track is heartlined, but the heartline is directly in the center of the middle part of the train so is fairly low off the track, APART from the element which I would like to name the "non-heartline roll" =). It's going to be quite annoying to recreate using Newton...but I love a challenge.

Good luck then.I think LC12 will mean Last Coaster 2012,reference to the end of the world.

Since the cars are about the same height as the track, I'm sure it has a heart-line but it is just hard to see because it is so close.
