How does 28ft kill you? I feel like i've jumped from higher than that and wasn't hurt at all.

Well, he fell out of the ride and hit a person. I dont know the speed of the ride or what or how the person landed but it seems like he snapped his neck in the fall which 9 time out of 10 is leathel.

That is the 2nd time in the last 20 years I have heard someone died on the Hi-Miler, granted this time it was the ground, not the ride that killed the person. Anyone remember the accident that occurred at the Del Mar Fair about 20 years ago when a man and a young child were flung from a decoupled car and landed on the track, the train then ran over the 2 killing them, that happened the day after I rode the same ride. Crazy!

wow, it is amazing what you can find online

^me too, that is probably the textbook definition of an "out of control" coaster.

They didn't die bro! XD

quote:"It was coming to the end of the ride when a coupling device came apart, which released the end car from the rest of the train," she said. "It stopped abruptly and its occupants fell to the track."

Beaulieu told fair officials that he lowered himself to the ground--about an 8-foot drop--and then helped his nephew to the ground, Scholfield said."

But still, they were fortunate...sad this man died though...
"Don't be a disability"... yep, still keeping that. :P

Sorry, yeah, they were fortunate, still pretty horrifying though. I should have read the whole article. I just remember the SD tribune reporting that it was more horrific than that.
