In line for Diamondback last year some guy in his 30's I think said this...
"Vortex is so much better than the Black Diamond, mostly because the Black Diamond is just a bunch of 50 ft hills, while Vortex is 420 feet, at 120 mph. It's just insane!"

Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

In line for Superman at SFMM about 5 years ago:

Father to children: Yeah this ride is awesome, 0-130 in about 3 seconds.
Me in my head: No.
Father to Children: Then at the top they stop you, and Superman talks to you.
Me in my head: NO.
Father to Children: It goes 550ft in the air!
Me in my head: ......

Oh and for some reason I've heard a lot of people back in the day mention how Goliath (SFMM) used to have a loop, and that it was stupid that they removed it.

This is from someone who is not an enthusiast, but a sophomore engineering student who should know better:
"You know what I think they should make next? A roller coaster that goes off the rails, and then lands back on it."

^ I've heard that on more than one occassion before.

Worse than that was at Thorpe Park during the construction of Stealth, in the final stages of the trackwork before the topping off and you hear (with no sense of irony) the words:

"No way! How is the train going to fly over that gap!? Surely it's going to crash nine times out of ten when it lands on the other side!?"

Perhaps we're just as stupid about other things we're not interested in?

RRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

I's wishes much Superman ride would do what Daddy says, more funner. Though I do surmise Superman would talk to you if you were on say, heroine?

Can't stand Disneyland. Haven't been there since before Star Tours. Once I rode Corkscrew at Knott's, I've never looked back.

-----

From my sister:

S: How does the train stay on the tracks when it's upside down?

Me: There have a set of wheels under and on the outside* of the rails as well as on top.

S: No they don't!

[devilish]

or on the inside rail depending on...oh, you know why.

Getting a few stats wrong isn't a big deal, especially if it's exaggerated for children. Hell, I get them wrong on occasion, and I AM an enthusiast! Some of the quotes in this thread are funny, but a lot of them are just showing off your arrogance.

Oh I think I've been there. Have you been on Jumanji or whatever it was called? Well, it's one of those kinds where you feet are dangling, and like, there was this part that was turning and twisting at the same time...so cool.

Whilst I understood it to be Montu...well...I did a mental laugh when he called it "Jumanji". At least he remembered that it was some kind of African-related name instead of "The Dangly One".

I normally don't care when people stay stuff in queues... Why be a dick and correct them in a sarcastic way? They can choose to believe what they want.

I thought it was kind of funny one day, I was in line for Top Thrill Dragster, a rollback occurred and half the queue started screaming and panicking.

I've often thought something like this might happen. But I've never been in the queue for a ride with a top hat when a rollback occurred.

The only time you need to panic is when you dispatch a train and it doesn't came back.

Waiting in line for Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis:
Kid: "You know how this coaster works?"
Mom: "No sweety, how does it work?"
Kid: "It uses 'Lunar Injection Motors!'"
I just chuckled a little bit and though, "I guess Mr. Freeze is running on moon rocks now, cool." He was almost close to getting it right.
