Hi

I am going to custom build a computer soon. I was going to get a EVGA Intel X58 Classified 4 Way SLI and a EVGA nVidia GTX 580 FTW Series Featuring Hydro Copper 2 liquid cooling. I have decided to lower my performance specs, because I really don't need all that power for NL, Sketchup, and AutoCAD next year.

I have decided to get:

????????? EVGA Intel P67 SLI Motherboard
????????? Intel 2600K i7 Sandy Bridge Quad Core Processor
????????? 12 GB Triple Channel RAM
????????? A 24 inch LCD Monitor. I might get a bigger one if i have some money left
????????? A large case, I have not yet decided which one
????????? I have not yet looked into the power supply
????????? Multiple Fans
????????? Blu ray Player/Burner
????????? Regular DVD/CD ROM Burner and Player.
????????? USB Ports and the works
????????? 1 TB 7200 rpm hard drive

I wil have to wait until April when the 2600K i7 comes out (The fixed model)

I am still debating my graphics card situation

I am debating which to get:

????????? 2 EVGA nVidia GTX 560 Ti Superclocked running in SLI Mode
????????? Or one EVGA nVidia GTX 570 Superclocked HD

Any comments or suggestions? If you know what I am talking about, please vote in the poll to help me decide what to get.

Sorry I can't help you on your video card selection. But it looks like you're going to need a lot of power to run all that equipment so be sure to get a good power supply or you'll have problems.

Just take 1 radeon hd 6990. they are good but you need a good psu for it, and if you take the 2600K and you are going to oc it: don't forget to buy a good cpu cooler, maybe corsair liquid...( maybe Scythe Mugen 2 Rev.B) and for the case, cooler master has some cool ones that have a great airflow (HAF series) [;)]

I'd recommend the single superclocked video card. In my opinion SLI configurations do not provide much of a performance increase for what you're paying. My desktop has a GTX 260 Black Edition which is superclocked, and I've been very happy with it for the last two years.

Not for triple screen gaming. Right now, much as it hurts me to say it, but several games are reporting much better FPS and compatibility on ATI Eyefinity cards. Not sure if youre doing that, but, NVIDIA (Whom I love) isnt the king as it used to be.

Infact, their newest drivers (the last 3 versions) all screw up my google chrome. Im back to April of last year (250 series drivers on a GTS 250 card) and now it works right. That does NOT impress me. Their drivers have always been so stable and work well but lately, some more issues...

btw, what do you need 12G of DDR3 Ram for? I have 8 and its way more than enough and I do HD Video, tons of photography and run CPU intensive games. I also stream HD media to my TV. Take the money you spend in the extra 4g of ram and put it towards another 1TB HD or maybe go triple monitor? 12GB seems like overkill. Theres nothing I cant do yet (Ram wise) with 8.

Just reread - Autocad - but you dont need 12gb for that. You get fast enough 8gb and youll push more data through it than you can handle. Just sayin, thats an expense I dont think you really need.

Im on 8GB of GSkill DDR3 1333.I tightened the timings of it and it absolutely rips now. Plus, I am rending HD video with no problems, streaming the video to my tv and even loading hundreds of huge photos with again, no problems.

Your PC obviously, I just think 8GB is plenty until you are really pushing monster amounts of data. At this point, you could get the 8gb, play with the timings and get even more performance.
