This is something I have been working on for the last few days. I am actually quite pleased with how it is turning out. I just finished the track work and will be supporting it soon. All constructive comments are welcome.

You guys could help him instead of being self-entitled assholes. Not like anyone who is in disbelief that he doesn't know what heartlining is can actually shape anything correctly anyways. Assholes.

Try to think of heartlining as bending the track around the train to get the desired result. For example, in Storm Runner on the immelman thingy the track kicks out to the left in this picture to keep the train's rotation on an axis through the center of the train at the rider's heart. This axis is represented by the yellow line in the No Limits editor.

Most modern rides use this technique. I believe but am not certain that wooden rides do a half ass version of this where the track kicks out but not enough to shift the actual structure. The purpose of heartlining is mostly to kill laterals. Inline rolls without heartlining would hurt.

Here is an example of an inverted coaster doing a barrel roll.
http://www.rcdb.com/1076.htm?p=2359

The turn after the hill does it here:
http://www.rcdb.com/3245.htm?p=14342

Dragster's roll is wonky for this reason:
http://www.rcdb.com/1896.htm?p=5796

Lots of B&M's have this at the top of their drop
http://www.rcdb.com/1549.htm?p=14953

Look at the MCBR here. It turns slightly proximal to the MCBR, but the turn is the right idea.

Hope that helped a bit.

Jump off ya band wagon CK, the self-entitled asshole is normally you... I have took space's comment with an air of sarcasm which I do hope he meant it to come accross as, if not then help or a basic explanation would/could of followed you [:o)]

Actually wooden coasters do it without the NEED to shift the structure.

Image

The structure follows what the trains do, for heartlining, the track just shifts along the ledgers while it banks. So when it banks left it shifts right up the ledgers a bit.

yeah it was meant to be semi sarcastic. I know what heartlining is, but, the built in heartline view in the NL editor sucks, so, I just go by the g forces.

So I decided to look at the heartlining and i was actually pretty impressed with how well I heartlined the ride without using it before. There are a couple spots that look "wonky" but, I am actually quite pleased with how it looks.

This is the part where you tell him WHERE IT NEEDS IT and maybe some advice on how to do it.

Well to not make myself a hypocrite I gave it a quick glance. I think in your areas with important banking changes (like rolls) dividing the vertices so you have twice as many (just use the split segment button) in those sections would help you raise parts and move it around so it heartlines better.

I think currently you've got it about as good as it's going to get without adding more vertices. You need to add more if you want a little bit more precision.

Thanks CK! finally, a useful tip. My main problem is I have never ridden a Euro-fighter so I am just guessing at how the ride would feel. Do they have strong vertical and lateral G forces?

Gerstlauer has some love up shaping lol...

But you definitely need some more vertices in there. It's not too bad right now (and I'm only guessing that it rides smoothly), but it could be better without much work. Try it out, but make sure to save this version before splitting things up, just in case.
