Severe Storms

Images I caught while on the road yesterday (Sunday, April 24). I live in south central Kentucky, by the way.

Funnel cloud, by my assumptions. Never touched the ground


Supercell thunderstorm, produced a few tornadoes I think.


Mammatus clouds underneath the anvil of the above storm.



Overall yesterday was great as far as weather is concerned, not so great of an Easter sunday but it was worth it.

We got some storms, but none like that (I think).

Yes, we got some bad storms in STL Friday, and my internet connection has been out since today, and even then it's still cutting out. A few tornadoes have done some damage, destroying a couple subdivisions and even damaging concourse C at the Airport.

Far western KY (Paducah).

It's rained everyday here since last Friday. Some severe, some mild. Not that I mind though, I like the rain and thunderstorms.

We've just had a nearly constant state of "disgusting" here in central Ohio. No severe storms around me, but our county's had one or two tornado warnings recently. I've hated it, and I think it convinced my neighbor to choose a school outside of Ohio for his college [:(]

we never ever get anysort of awsome weather in the uk, its either hot and sunny or cold and wet. i wish just for once we would get some awsome weather like that

Northwestrn ohio has had some doozy storms. Had some damage in my old neighborhood storm or 2 ago, classified it as a F0 Tornado.

I know, I thought the same thing. How'd an old super nintendo game cause damage? But it wasn't more than some house damage and down trees / powerlines. No actual typical tornado damag where crazy things happen and stuff is completely gone.

Not so sure that that's a funnel cloud, i may be wrong. Looks like some kind of fractocumulus. Still a good picture, that storm looks pretty nasty!

Yea, doesnt even look like a wall cloud, let alone rotating funnel.

STILL - as said above, doesnt look like blue skies and sunshine. Looks pretty angry.

Tomorrow's supposed to be the end of the world with this stuff.

Well there's a tornado EMERGENCY issued on that one. Not just a warning, an EMERGENCY. And for those of you that don't obsess over storms as much as I do, that cell has everything you could come up with to indicate a strong updraft and rotation. I don't even want to look at the storm report after that.

Also, for those of you who know what this means or somehow gained access to a search engine: VIL is over 77kg/m^2 and the updraft is topping out over 71,000 feet. That is probably the single most impressive cell I've ever seen develop.

Edit: And did I mention the 102+ mph straight-line winds recorded?

i was on the bus when the tornado warning was called, then we got in the school and sheltered in my e-news class. then me and my friend made like 8 paper balls and threw them all around the room. then we had to eat breakfast, im just glad it distracted us from testing.

Dude, some of the storms weve had this year...

First, that is epic radar footage. Wow.

Second, you see the debris ball radar stuff from the Arkansas tornado? It looked a lot less like a storm and more like a small hurricane. Ive never seen a WHOLE CELL have SO much rotation. Normally the hook echo near the back only affects the rear portion of the cell, in that Ark one, you can almost sense the whole cell is rotating like a hurricane.

Weird stuff so far and its only April.

Supercell, Birmingham which is like a few miles from the tornado still that blasted tuscaloosa - its dropping crap in Birmingham already. 4x8 sheet of plywood flew across the interstate and stuff falling in suburbs already...

This things gonna be historic if it hits Birmingham.

I live in Cobb County,Ga not far from the Weather Channel studios. Have supercells to my north and west. Its going to be a long night in North Georgia.

I have a feeling that this upcoming season of "Storm Chasers" is going to be really interesting.

As for me, the system that is hurting the south is on its way north. Now here in PA we dont get many tornadoes outside of Carbon, Berks, and Lehigh counties but its gonna be a fun night for the really severe stuff.

Just which I had a big enough front porch to watch it from outside. Oh-well, there will be more bad storms as the year goes on.

So Cal was having horrible weather today. The temperature was 75 degrees, which was really hot. Last night was also extremely cold with a temperature of 60 degrees. I hope we get better weather soon.
