I've ridden Mantis numerous times, sometimes it was smooth, others it was not.
I remember the first time I rode it I had to wait in a ridiculously long line and I had to use the bathroom badly, so I wasn't concerned about the pain at all, just the fact that I had to crap really bad. lol But the second time I rode it I distictly remember it killing my calfs for the rest of the day. But there have also been times where it has been a relatively smooth ride with no major issues. There was also one time where I was dared to ride the whole thing sitting completely with all my weight, feet off the ground, on the thingamobob that goes between your legs. I DO NOT recommend doing that, it hurt certain places in ways that I never thought it could be hurt. haha. Usually it is a smooth ride though. [lol]

Years ago I was on Vortex at CGA next to this kid who looked like Joey from Dennis The Menace (I kid you not) and he thought he would be clever and jump up just before the ride op locked the restraints, that was probably the funniest ride on a roller coaster I ever took. Right when the train hit the bottom of the first drop all I heard was "ow my balls" and that lasted the entire ride, then we hit the brake run which is not at all a comfortable stop even when you are riding the correct way and this kid hit a note I have never heard before. I was laughing so effing hard by the end of the ride that the ride op came over to make sure I was ok.

So as I said you wasn't the only one. Further more Gazs amazing use of the English langauge which is well known on this site should never be quoted for literal referance at any time, so I would say yes he would or should say your name if it was aimed at yourself.

Like I said there is no harm in defending yourself at all, but a general 'wuss' isn't getting personel the way you did when you retaliated.

^Idiot. LOL

Yeah, I had heard Mantis complaints over the past years, and when I went to CP this past summer, I was surprised to see it "smooth and not painful". Honestly I don't know why people hate stand-ups...I want more of them!

Speaking of stand-up coasters, I heard there is one opening up at SFGAdv soon. Looks really fun and exciting, honestly, seems to fit better at SFGAdv than it did at Kentucky Kingdom.

His use or misuse of the English language is not my problem. If you don't want to hear something, don't go calling names. That simple.

Names are names, personal is personal. Maybe you have previous issues involving being called a wuss that I don't know about and you felt attacked by it. If so fair enough.

spacemountain, I heard the rumour. Do you know what it is called?

I would say that you shouldn't call people names, and they won't call you names...but it seems that's not the case because someone here decided it was a good idea to call another person or two a name without provocation. And for some reason, you're calling me out instead of the person who started calling names, or both. Hmm...

That's enough of that though, we're going in circles.

I am not calling you out as such for name calling that is so school yard, it was the personal way that you went about it.

^Agreed
This could go round and round and is a waste of time for us both, lets try and get somewhere close to being back on topic.

I am trying to think of a response more powerful than the most epic facepalm, but, all I can come up with is reaching through the monitor and slapping Jcoasters silly while yelling "stop being such a derp!"

Kingda Ka is a rough, painful, boring, piece of poop. Let me tell you guys something, I dont know when you rode you rode it or how many times you rode it (i've definitely broken 100 by now) but now, now it's borderline painful to ride, and with El Toro and Green Lantern within walking distance I see no furthur reason to waste my time with it.

If you call Kingda Ka Painful, then you really have no spine. Have you ever ridden a coaster called "Gwazi" before the new trains?

When have you ridden KK? or are you just speculating that it's smooth?

In fact I dont know why you're trying to argue with me about it it's at my home park, and the last time I rode it was.....April.

No I have not ridden Kingda Ka, but I respect dcs's opinion over yours and most people say its not so bad if you ride in front.

You respect the opinion of someone who just posted that he loves KK to someone who lives 30min away from the ride? (No offense meant DCS) suit yourself. You also shouldn't form opinions on a ride you have never ridden.

I've ridden KK twice, onec in teh back set, and once about a third of the way back in the train, and both time I came off thinking, "why was it so bumpy?" That is not to say that it was extraordinarily bumpy for a roller coaster, but that it is far bumpier than a 7-year-old intamin roller coaster should be.

Hey man, you're exaggerating like crazy. It's an Intamin for crying out loud. Stop complaining, or you'll sound like a bitch.

I heard KK's roughness was due to Six Flags, as well as the OTSRs. First off, from the talk I've heard, Cedar Point replaces wheels on TTD every month, while Six Flags replaces KK's wheels every 6 months. Also, the OTSR's are less free, which can affect the experience, especially in the head and chest area. I've also heard that KK, for some reason, has an inconsistent launch (like it launches in 4 consecutive boosts) while TTD's is smoother and more consistent.

But this is all talk, so I can't say that KK is completely horrible and it's the fault of management. I do believe what I have heard about it's roughness though, though I don't think it's really extreme. TTD, however, was perfectly smooth from my rides.

It's also worth noting that from most polls, people that have ridden both rides do prefer TTD, so that must mean that KK's extra height and airtime hill don't overcome the OTSR's and/or roughness/other issues.
