Look at Bobcoaster's rating of Thrasher. Does a 5 seem low to anyone else? Especially on a silver-medal-winning coaster that even WWS gave an 8.3? Kind of conspicuously, I gave his ride a 6.8 earlier today. if you noticed the topic under this one, he seemed to think that another rating was unfair, and appeared to be kind of mad at it. Well, does anyone else smell an attempt at cruel revenge in the air?

He did seem to give good reasoning for his low score of the track. I wouldn't have knocked off as many points as he did for the "faults", but I guess it's a case of each to his own. Because there's no definition of what consitutes a score of 10, or a score of 5, or even a score of 1 everyone is left to give their own reasoning for applying certain scores.

For instance, personally I will give a decent coaster a score of somewhere around 6-8 average. I don't think I've given a single 10 out yet - I'm saving that for one that really knocks my socks off...

I'd say he was right to knock off points for what he considered to be a bad coaster, but he shouldn't have knocked off as many as he did...

Actually, I rated it the way I saw it. I'd previously ridden it and hadn't rated it. It was suggested that we rate things - even when it was less than favorable. If 5 is average, that's how I viewed that coaster. I was pretty specific about the reasons....much more so than a lot of the comments I see about bumps and roughness but with no suggestions for improvement. I thought my statements also carried with them what I thought would improve the ride. Actually, in a separate topic I already stated that I wish it were possible to just post comments without the rating. I see the ratings as too arbitrary anyway. What one person sees as average another may not - that's one thing. But the points - one person loves a ride and gives it a 9 and someone else doesn't and gives it a 2. It would be better if there were some clear cut objective rating system, or just a comment system (in my opinion). I particularly don't care for the truly negative remarks. I read one review where it was a first attempt and someone said it was horrible. I think that's unfair, unworthy, and certainly not encouraging. Reviews of my own coasters have not really provided anything specific as to how the reviewer would have improved it. I tried to provide those specifics.

I don't think this can be considered as a malicious or too low rating. Bobcoaster explained his thoughts about the ride. Maybe a 5 is a bit low but that is his opinion and as long as he gives arguments for that I think it is ok. If he placed: "stupid ride" as a comment it would have been wrong but he didn't so it's ok. I think he is right that many people are rating average rides to high. If i ride is just nice most people rate it a 7, but a ride which is not more than nice should have a 6 or something like that.
So imo the rating is fair. Maybe a bit low but that is Bob's opinion.
