I rode it the first time today. It was good fun. 5 times. By far the best coaster i have ever ridden.

Pros:
- first drop is better than mf
- i almost blacked out on the first turn
- lats that would put cci to shame
- airtime everywhere
- [insert words to describe the indescribable insanity of i305 here]
- people cant find it so it maintains a 5 min wait w/one train
- trims make no difference in quality of ride
- shiny

Cons:
- gforces prevent full extension of arms from time to time.

Anybody here ride it yet or have thoughts on it?

I rode it front row and last row. Most insane thing ever!

I rode it though with the trims last season. My dad blacked out on the ride! And guess what! Due to the high G-forces on the first turn, he wound up having a hernia!

I want to ride it again with the new design so bad [:(]
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Well the first drop and hill both have insane ejector in any seat so yeah it would be worth the trip.

^?

I remember riding it on opening day. The thing was seriously crazy as f*ck. Without fail, black out every single time on the first turn and then have my head almost pop when all the blood came back to it on that hill right after. Unfortunately, though, the OSTR's did take a lot away from the whole experience.

Not anymore! The soft straps make every twist an turn on the ride not only tolerable but incredible, and u have a better view.
This is i305 2.0 were talking about.

^^um.. Ok?

I rode it last summer, not great and I don't think it will be worth taking a whole other vacation for a few airtime hills. I just feel that the transitions are not to die for at all. Maverick's are so much better IMO. The only serious laterals I felt were on the transitions. There were a few on the turns, but not enough to kick CCI's ass. TBH, I have only ridden one CCI, that being Boulder Dash and nothing comes at you surprisingly on I305 like Boulder Dash, so in no way would this put shame on CCI. I'll give you the drop. MF's was better when i305 was trimmed, but I am sure that it would be better without them. Finally, I don't understand how blacking out would be fun...

It's a good ride, I just totally disagree about it being the best.

P.S. When it is no longer shiny, will it not be your favorite ride?

You are entitled to your opinion.. And it has great lats on every transition and the little airhill throws you to the right woth quite a bit of force. Its running much better without trims i guess. BD is at my home park 15 mins away and the lats are great but they are different than intimidator. Intimidator has a mix of normal lats as well as transitional lats. I have ridden maverick also and found the transitions to be uncomfortable because of the straps and the rotation hurt my thighs so i like intimidators more.

I need to get out to the east for Boulder Dash and this, I think I'm gonna start putting away funds for that right now.

I think it'd b worth the trip. BD is totaly unique and i305 even more so. I don't think I have ever ridden a coaster quite like it in my life to tell the truth.

I think by lats you mean transitional lats, which case we are not talking about the same thing here.

Comparing wooden coaster lats to steel transition lats...not in the same field here. Wooden coaster lats are meant to have duration to them. Lats on steel coasters are typically from transitions and in this case, its heartlined and only a result of trying to cram such a fast transition into a tight area. If Intamin had a way to reduce the lats further Im sure they would.

But its a pretty lame comparison to CCI lats because Ill just say, I have watched reverse POV's and no where are the lats held for longer than a moment - again - because its a property/result of the transition they had to design.

But I too really want to ride this. But I think a trip to BGE will trump a trip to KD.

Dude, impossible to compare those two. The lats on I305 aren't as strong as those on Boulder Dash, from what I remember anyways, but that's better. Who wants super strong lats on a steel coaster with OSTR's? Completely different story, but even with strong lats on those wicked fast transitions, I305 was still one of my favorite steels ever. Boulder Dash is also my favorite ride I've ever been on. You really can't compare them at all because they are so vastly different.

Yeah it is a bad comparion I was just trying to emphasize the fact that it had some decent lats at points. And I don't think the lats are all accidental lats that are a result of transitioning. I ragdolled during a ride and got yanked to both sides a fair amount fore periods of up to 2 maybe 3 seconds. It was during transitions mostly but there are many ways they could have eliminated lats but didn't because the helped empasize the rotation. Like the second hill on the return trip for excample pulls u to the left with about .5 gs and it is a very long transition. If the ride was built by b&m that transition they would have designed the transition to have no lats. Like on my coaster sapphire I had sextic lat time zones on almost all of my transitions that had atleast .3 gs. But whether the lats are accidental or not they are there and make every turn more insane.

I'm probably the one that talked about that ride more than any other person last year. Made the whole I305 comparison thread about the original I305 and the trimmed version. I heard they removed the trims and redid the track so the wheels don't start wearing out again.

I've only ever been to BGW and Kings Dominion but I305 the original was BY FAR the best rollercoaster in VA. If the experience is like how it used to be because there are no trims again, I definitely look forward to going next year. When it had trims, it was hardly better than Volcano, Apollo's Chariot, and Griffon, but now that I'm told the track is revamped and theres no trims and they modified it a little bit, I'm excited!

^^Way to bring back a dead topic lol. And the ride is by far better than any of those coasters you mentioned now.

Yeah, I haven't been on this forum for a while but a trip to Busch yesterday (Illuminights, riding Apollo in the dark) made me come back here again. Yeah, the original I305 which lasted for a month was quite a beast for someone only been in theme parks in VA. I remember my first time, flew out of my seat on first drop into the restraints, first turn was brutal fast and I was shaking like I was in an electric chair, big huge airtime on the 2nd hill, BRUTAL intense turns after that, a nice hill with nice airtime, and then a karate chop last left turn into the end of the ride. Then about a month and a half in, they added trims and just about every aspect I mentioned above was toned down a lot.

Now, with the new track design and no more trims on the drop, can't wait to go next year and man after the great day at Busch yesterday, I'm pumped up about theme parks again!

I305 is probably not even in my top 10 steel coasters. I've ridden the original, and this years' new track version., never ridden it with trims on the drop. If I had, I would probably have laughed...

I loved Millennium Force, but having rode it a week after Voyage, the thing it seemed to be missing was intensity. I305 looks kickass.

Is it just me or do the new straps make airtime really fun on intimidator. The way the airtime sends you up unto the straps just makes the air all the more insane feeling. And btw without the straps the lats would be annoying like they are riding bizarro near the front. The thought of lats and air with the straps sounds like it would suck but when i rode it it really added imo. Like it wouldnt be as fun with lapbars on I305. But its only appealing for that ride to me. Hm...

^sounds like the ride just brainwashed you. If I305 had only a lap bar it would be so much better.

People would probably die during the transitions if it didn't have a lap bar from getting elbowed by their seat partner. I was on Beast once and elbowed the guy next to me going into the final helix. Imagine that, but like 5 times and a lot harder.
