If you have decent restraint system and capable ride-ops, lap bars can be just as safe as OTSRs.

Woodies from Intamin (and TGG) also have insane airtime and directional changes, lap bars work fine on them as well.

I think it's more that parks when they do research find the issues the Superman duo has had rather fast and it puts a negative stigma on the product. If I recall correctly, the duo has killed someone and the brakes failed pretty hardcore on the other one.

I blame the two Supermans for the B&M hypers the ex paramount parks have been getting.

To be honest, those incidents really have nothing to do with the restraints. DD(Daredevil Dive) @ SFOG does NOT have OTSR's and seems pretty comfortable and fun. To all the naysayers, restraints do have a HUGE effect on the ride experience. The more free the restraints, the more free the experience. Pony Express at KBF has very limited restraints, and is a lot of fun. Most of that is due to the fact that the seats are very open and allow a decent amount of freedom.

length is not the issue. The issue is whether or not restraints impact the ride experience, and, IMO, they do.

I am in complete agreement there. That's a big reason why, to me, B&Ms are not all that much fun. The restraints are so damn big. However, when done correctly, OTSRs can be of minimal obstruction, and in my opinion, Intamin has nailed it. Their OTSRs are barely noticeable most of the time, and you can (mostly) put your hands up around them, so they don't really bother me. Even on Maverick, where the transitions whip you[r hair] back and forth and you hit your neck, it's a hell of a lot better than B&Ms where you can barely move.

If I'm not mistaken, only one person has died on one of the SROS designs. The brakes have failed, and assuming it's all true, someone fell out of SFDL's, but only the guy at SFNE died from an incident.

And oddly enough, DL's ROS still has the same T-Bars and SFNE has U-Bars on theirs. So the two coasters in question still have the "troubling" restraints, while I've never heard of an issue like this with TTD which would be the most logical ride to think about when you bring up issues like these.

I recall the T bars having metal poop welded to the sides to make it a U bar with the bonus T bar crotch feature.

Yea but those don't rattle as much as the larger pieces on the U-Bars.

Hershey Park put a trademark application in for the name 'SKYRUSH' on the 5th of July 2011 . From the type of application it is and the merchandise it covers I would say that this looks like the name for their new coaster for 2012. The full application in pdf format can be viewed HERE. There is no logo in the application, all it gives is a plain txt version of the name.

The ride has also been comfirmed to be an Intamin (not that there was any real doubt.) from a packaging label that was on the light blue supports that have been delivered to the park.

There is also a weekly blog at Keystonethrills which shows that alot of the footers are now in place. It won't be long before the supports and track will be going up and 'SKYRUSH' should start to take shape.

The only real question left is lapbars or ORSR's?

A new banner has appeared within Hershey Park.

From the look at the website it relates to, it seems as if this is the next part of the 'clues' they have been giving out to be solved. There is a phone no. on the site that seems to be random but there must be an inner meaning.

Can any of you work out the code and and access through the username and password on the site?

Aqua Trax would be sweet, but the coaster is supposed to be 212ft. Atlantis Adventure (Aqua Trax) is 72'.

Anyone notice the little GIF in the bottom left? You can see comet and sooperdooperlooper together in there, a bench, a bathroom male/female sign, and some other thing with pictures on the top.

Someone hurry up and break this...

Edit: If you have image ready you can acctually open the .gif in pieces. In the bench and the picture of comet and superdooperlooper there's two phases in the pictures.

Hellotornadoman.

endofline.

The mystery picture is a bunch of clue pieces a ? in the middle and a newage bar code on the bottom.

The first bench piece also has a date "7-18-2011," by the tilt a whirl... Who's down to go check it out?
Go chuff yourself and have a nice day! :D

Someone should go to Hershey and look behind the bench.

The QR code is unscannable as it is missing the final cube.

That is the top half of a QR code, which is like an alternate to a bar code. Phones and such can scan it and it could contain text, an image or a link to a website. But because it's missing the bottom I don't think it's scan-able

Also it could be to distract from the two lines of text on the bottom left. I bet that is the user name and password, but it will not be set up till the 18th (unless there doing some special announcement that day).
