Since I don't have that bitchin 100-400L, I took some shitty wide long exposure shots with intended diffraction to get some sunstars. Lens flare kinda kills it though. 20", F/10, ISO400, -2/3rds.

Could probably get something a little nicer with some effort in Lightroom, but whatever.

LOL Love your post. Thats actually pretty cool. Looks like the sun.

I underestimated the lens too. I took that picture with ISO 200, f5.6 AND exposure? 1/500th. SRSLY Owl.

Anything over 1/250th was white. And I've noticed the moon moves FAST so time lapse doesn't really work that well.

Yeah when working with that kind of length you absolutely need fast shutters to get anything sharp. I remember a couple weeks ago someone on DP Review was asking why he couldn't get sharp moon pics and he was using like 1/50....duh it's moving.

Clouds move fast too. Sometimes the blur can make a nice effect if you don't overdo it. Here's one I did last year on my S90 that I like a lot...that little thing rules at low light. Better than some older DSLRs.

lol! I love the trees and powerline though. Also like the way the moon became the sun.

My shot, believe it or not, was shot with ISO 200, f5.6 and a shutter speed...wait for it... 1/500th. Anything lower than 1/100th was a complete white out. Even if I used the metering just to sample the moon it would still require more. So, I swapped to manual and started at 500th and bam, awesome. I then took 2 more, one lower and one higher exposure and created that pseudo-HDR photo.

Love the bokah in the first parrot picture. Awesome colors.

Sorry I sort of double posted...that might have been my phone not updating the thread and I thought it had not posted it.

That picture is crazy disorienting. It looks like it's right-side up, until you realize it's sideways. Wicked awesome. And then, when you realize it's sideways, it's love creepy.

Finally got the dang Tigers up and moving around...though that ended with one of them deciding it was too hot and needed to lay half in the water and half out.

So because I have no impulse control and B&H saves my credit card info, making for a very dangerous combination, I pulled the trigger on that Tokina 10-17 fish I rented a while back. I got a newer version than the one I had before, which doesn't have the built in hood and seems a little more well behaved with purple fringing. I hate spending so much on glass that isn't versatile at all, but there have been more than a few times that I rented it that I was wishing I still had it. So now I do.

Two from when I rented it, and one from tonight:

That looks like it was a great time Jay...I gotta get to my "local" strip and get some cool shots. Too bad they will not be nearly as cool of cars as you got to watch.

Here are both the files. These are pretty large, as evident by your large widescreen. But it also means youll have the UBER detail version.

For the rest of you, this is nearly a 1x1 crop. Its been shrunk maybe 10-15%. Not much

Excellent, thanks Real. It looks incredible.
I sharpened the tiger up a little bit and blurred the background more. Looks amazing, great photo!

I already sharpened it some, so do as you please. I don't like it to be sharpened artificially too much personally. Personal preference though. When taken with my new lens, its already about as sharp as it needs to be.

I bet it looks absolutely gorgeous on one of those Mac monitors though!
