Intamin. Just the first drops of "Millennium Force" and "Maverick" alone would be enough to give them the win here IMO. And according to others, those two might not even be their best. Enough said.

Arrow/S&S-X2 Need I say more?

Nope.

Best f**king drop ever on X/X2. Second would have to go to B&M. Only Inta I've been on is Xcellerator, so...

Definitely Intamin. Why? X/X2 might be an amazing first drop, but look at all of the other Arrow/S&S drops out there. They suck. Having one good drop is not enough to overshadow an entire arsenal of bad ones. Intamin, on the other hand, consistently makes fantastic first drops. See: Millennium Force, Maverick, TTD (yes, I'm counting the drop from the top hat here), I305, etc. I don't ever remember being on an Intamin drop that I didn't like.

I will say that a close second is B&M, though. I really do love the newer mega coaster drops.

On the other hand, I just rode Voyage for the first time the other day, and that first drop was incredible (until the jackhammering started, anyway). So GG's up there as well.

The only Intamin coasters I have ridden are Woodstock's Express at CGA, Superman at SFMM and Xcelerator at Knott's. I stand by my First choice because at the time X was built Arrow was still somewhat in business. For all the crap they get for building uncomfortable and somewhat painful rides, they do have some impressive first drops. Desperado, Excalibur, Magnum, Vortex at KI, Flight Deck and Vortex at KI and CW, Viper at SFMM, Loch Ness Monster at BGW, The back seat especially provides really nice airtime going over the crest. B&M may have some interesting first drops, but, most of the ones I have ridden have a pre drop into a swooping turn, with the exception of Flight Deck at CGA, Medusa at SFDK and Apollo's Chariot. The only B&M first drop that really does anything for me is the one on Scream, it kind of has a "floater" feel to it, but other than that I find most B&M drops to be "Meh," not that I don't think B&M is pretty much tied with Intamin as the best steel coaster company in the world, but, this is just about who makes the best first drops, not the best overall rides.

The Arrow looper drops are quite good with a lot of airtime in the back. Loch Ness Monster is one of my favorites.

^Yeah intamin has never made a drop with the same kick as lochness monster in the back row imo believe it or not. Even today that drop still gives me a noticeable stomach drop.

Ninja's first drop used to provide a good butterfly feeling when it was younger and faster. I still really enjoy the Arrow suspended coasters, really sad that BBW was removed, IMO one of the best suspended coasters ever built by any company. I am still standing by my Arrow vote in this one.

X's drop shaping doesn't correlate at all with any other arrow. I personally enjoy it because of the slow build to the top, the seats tilt back, and as you drop into the pre drop you start tilting forward, and you start flying down face first. It's a great experience... especially in the front row. it was like skydiving.

I think basically all of you who say Intamin or B&M can rephrase that to:

Werner Stengel.

I have to go with Intamin coasters as my favorite for first drops. Some B&M coasters are a close first for me though. :)
