Task killers work against the android operating system, and can do more bad than good. I used one and coincidentally enough, my phone started lagging a lot more and acting up, and after I uninstalled it things went back to normal. Hmmmm? There's a lot of articles stating that task killers aren't good for the phone and should not be used, although every verizon rep recommends downloading it.

If you were being sarcastic, ignore this.

I've read that but when a lot of stuff is running (opening by themselves and no way to close) my phone gets slow. Kill them off and it runs fine again.

Gas Buddy is also a good app, I found a gas station selling gas 15 cents cheaper a gallon that I never knew existed!

any haters of the iPhone just make me see red. The arrogance and naivety is painful. If you don't like them, fine, but don't post hate everywhere and to say they are the worst phone you've ever used is stupid. My first phone was a nokia 3210, and i can safely say that any phone that exists today is better than that. iPhone's are very clever pieces of technology, if your one broke all the time or whatever there are still millions of them out there which don't so you can't say they all suck. I'll be loyal with them forver at this rate, i haven't seen anything which comes close to tempting me away. I've got an old school 3G (not 3GS) which still works epic now and the iPhone 4 has a very rich display and considerable speed. I'll wait out for the iPhone 5 if I can afford it by then.

I think they're pretty even, but I'm not a smartphone user so I wouldn't know. It seems like iPhone generally has more and has a generally better interface, so it seems to trump the Droids. Android from what I can tell is like Windows, but without the "more programs" part, which is a huge deciding factor. It does seem to have more customization and 3rd party hardware (ala Windows), but right now it seems pretty much behind iPhone in terms of what's better.

Even though I don't know about smartphones, I am unbiased on the "PC/Mac" dealio. Right now I'm preferring Windows, but Mac is really catching up especially with OS X Lion (which seems pretty slick). I just like the customization of Windows (and that it can run Newton). ;)

I have a droid 2 and everything keeps running even if you close it to so Task Killer is nice and saves my battery from dieing in 5 hours on a full charge.

I have an iphone now, but I use basically the same apps on it that I did on Android. Here are the main ones I used on Android:

Launcher Pro Plus: Nice to have, depending on which phone you have.

Poweramp: I'm pretty sure this is the name of it. It is a music player app. Much better than the stock music player.

Evernote: I use this daily. Comes in handy with keeping up with important information anywhere. Syncs with your PC and phone, and whatever other supported gadgets you have.

Dropbox: Cloud storage service.

Imdb: For movie reviews.

Soundhound: For detecting song names, and purchasing detected songs.

Kindle: For reading.

Vignette: For applying filters to photos. I personally didn't care for the filters all that much, but I found that it took better (unfiltered) pictures than the stock camera app. I had a droid incredible, but I'm sure it varies by phone.

Amazon: I became an amazon fiend after buying an android phone. Too damn easy to spend money with this.

Weatherbug: Was the best weather app on android at the time.

there's probably more, but these are the main ones that I used.

lol.

And i've just got Siege Hero and i'm hooked, very fun app. Also Shazam is a must have, i also use LoveFilm so i've got that app, as well as eBay. Got this other one called SleepCycle which you leave under your pillow all night and it charts your movements into a graph so you can see how well you are sleeping and it also wakes you up gradually over half and hour so you're not zooonked.

LOL prolly a good idea to stay away from Amazon then, with one exception. Download their app store app. They give away a free android app everyday.
