I love how the ride absolutely rapes the arrow coaster lol

My thoughts exactly; however, I find it very visually unappealing when one coaster is pretty much built on top of another, especially when it is the final brake run that dwarfs the other ride. Dragon Fyre had a certain photogenic appeal, mainly because there was nothing over, under or in its land area, I am not bashing the new ride, I think it looks pretty bad ass, I just think there is a more suitable location and more practical layout that the park could have chosen to build. There is plenty of open land along the back of the park that would be more than accommodating for a coaster of this magnitude. Not to mention the impact that this will have on a once well-balanced and magnificent skyline that was not over-crowded with massive structures. I just feel that there was a certain beauty that could be seen from the parking lot that will never be the same. Putting a ride of this magnitude in the back of the park could have kept the picturesque and somewhat calm view from the parking lot. The fact that they did preserve the view for so long was one of the reasons I prefer the old Paramount parks over Six Flags, having a lot of record breaking and cluttered rides towards the front just seems chaotic and semi unwelcoming to me. Sure Six Flags is GREAT for world-class thrills, but, I am not just about the thrills, I am also a huge fan of the beauty and fun of a day at an amusement park. For me Paramount did a great job realizing that it is not just about thrills its about the overall experience, too bad CF cares more about their ongoing war with Six Flags than they do providing a world class experience for their guests. Anyway, Leviathan looks friggin' sweet, just think they could have chosen a better spot to build it in.

Spacemountainfan, I see your point and agree at least partially, but I'd have to say that B&Ms are usually inviting and photogenic rides.

And perhaps that land in the back of the park is part of another future attraction. [:D]

I'm heading up to the park right now, so if there's anything worth taking pictures of I'll get them and post them tonight.

Just for a small update, I was at the park a few days ago and not much was happening besides track/supports in the actual construction site. Looks like vertical construction will be starting soon!

Is anyone else rather curious what the actual *drop height* will be, what with the trench at the base of the first drop and all? It's got to be more than 306', which would give Leviathan the record for largest drop on a gravity-driven roller coaster. I'm surprised this wasn't acknowledged for promo purposes.

Leviathan has gone VERTICAL....check out the first piece of track to be erected on their facebook page.

Haha, don't forget the 306'+ drop on Steel Dragon 2000. Only by 9" however, according to rcdb. And given the projected speed of Leviathan at 92 mph, don't be so sure it will be 306'+. Probably another 300' like the 93 mph Millennium Force. Of course there could be other factors in figuring this, considering friction and all.

However, yeah - in promotional pictures, it does seem to display a below-ground-level trench at the bottom of the initial drop. You could be right...

Would lift speed make much of a difference? I'd say that this wouldn't have near the lift speed of Millennium Force, being that it's a chain and it's a B&M.

It definitely would. The speed of Millennium Force's lift compared to an average B&M is nearly double. I wouldn't be surprised by the speed and trench at the bottom of the drop for it to be 308-310 feet.

^This. My observations exactly. I do wish that Cedar Fair had the balls to grab some records that were easily within reach instead of ensuring 'Top Dog' status for Millenium Force at its premier park.

Quick construction update, turnaround from station to lift is up, scroll to midpage:

I am pretty sure what is shown is the turn from the final brake run to the station and if i am not mistaken, the final brake run is pictured above the one you are referring to, at any rate, good to see it going vertical, but, the colors are a lot brighter than I thought they were going to be, it is definitely an interesting addition to the park's skyline. According to the vids and pics on the official leviathan website the train exits the station directly to the lift, no turn.

B&M are firing on all cylinders for 2012. On a side note, spacemountainfan, you were in fact mistaken :P

well, if you look at the concept art, there is no turn to the lift. The long angled section of track is in fact the brake run.

Spacemountainfan is right, right after the last turn it goes into what looks like flat brakes, pretty high up, then it angles downward, goes to the hight of the station (about), has another straightaway then turns into the station, which rides straight onto the lift.

You leave the station THEN do the bend, which turns you into a series of trims, tyre drives and chain. The chain section looks to be flat for about a couple metres before you actually tip back up into the lift hill.
