This has been a better than average week for ratings which is really good to see. As the ratings have been ever decreasing recently this is a very positive week for the exchange. The ratings have been a staff concern for some time. I would like to urge all of you to rate the rides you download or if another decline occurs then a forced rating to download system may have to be put in place. I am sure that no one would like to see that happen, so keep rating and we can keep the system that is in place.

What about, a way to give number ratings, just numbers, without all the text.
Along with full rating, and just comment.
Because I just don't like writing a whole thorough rating.

There is no way to differentiate from the random rates from your rates with reasoning. It should only take you 3 minutes to write a comment on what you liked/disliked about a ride. :)

I am an active rater, and I know how to rate. But there are many out there who have no clue, and if you make it forced, then you will have a number of low quality rates/overrates/underrates by people like that. Just throwing my two cents worth in. Me personally, I would rather have less rates, than a large amount of low quality rates.

I've been trying to rate every ride i download. its also important to note that there is no way for noob rides to get noticed and rated. Obviously the veterans rides will get rated, however noobs should note that more creative screen shots and such will get you more rates. Lets also keep in mind that sometimes a few numbers and a comment or two goes a long way for the noobs. We should try to filter out the noobs by spreading our knowledge on coasters and helping them as much as possible.

i agreee with TMV here.

it dosent take long to do a rate, you dont need the full on massive amount of discription just a paragraph which will take you a few minuites.

I haven't rated in such a long time that I forgot. I stopped simply because I would download coaster look at them once and never again. I'm going to start rating again though, It really is for the good of the site
What are these for?

Logically why do you feel rating is important?

^ Why do we tell people that suck, that they suck?

So they know that they suck.
Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit of yourself to get the job done.

Yeah but telling people that they suck makes them feel that they do suck; that there is no room for improvement. Say something like... "Keep building, practice makes perfect" or something like that, after telling them that they suck.

It isn't about telling anyone they 'suck' it is more about constructive criticism to help people improve with there skills. The people who take on board what has been said in the ratings do tend to improve there building style over time. Without any ratings no one would know if they have made a decent track or not.

It encourages people to keep building new rides, stay on the site longer and is a good way to integrate into the community easily.
