I think wipeout of all tracks is not an issue: those can be re-uploaded. Also if some people (like me) have old tracks that have been refined and smoothened (this goes out to all beginning designers)they can be replaced with a cleaner and smoother version of the same track.

I'm all for option 1. Yea, the tracks are gonna be missed, but if you REALLY want to ride one, PM the designer and ask for the file. If you can't remember the designer, then idk your probably love.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

we don't need another CoasterSims-style loss of tracks..... most tracks on the exchange WILL NOT be re-uploaded. Either the designers are long gone, or they might have lost the files due to a hard drive failiure.

I say keep the tracks - or maybe there's a way to keep the old exchange as an archive.

Hypothetically you could get a large external hard drive, say maybe 5 terabytes and download all the tracks onto that to save them and save pictures of each individual track page so as to also preserve the ratings. Of course the external drive would cost about $400 and it would take forever to take the pictures and download all the tracks, but it's still an idea.

How about the people who WANT certain tracks go and download them? Then they can upload them on the new site with credits to the designer in the description. Although we would need to filter out the excess so we don't get duplicate files...

Exchange archive is doable.

^ OR you could download a track that has a high rating (not because of theming) and study it's trackwork. Your probably not going to much of a rating if you put it on the new exchange.

As much as losing all the exchange info would be, the crap has really started to over weigh the good stuff, so I say lets wipe it and start new!

You will still receive ratings, not like the new website system won't have a rating system with the tracks. What you've gained from your tracks already through ratings should remain, because you yourself haven't received too much feedback anyhow.

Is there any way we could just keep the highest-rated ones? That would surely delete like 95% of the bulk while still keeping almost all of the ones that people actually care about.

Anyway, yeah, I'm mostly fine with a complete wipe as long as I can download stuff first.

I hate to sound like an ass by only referencing my own, but:

Anyone else feel they have good tracks that haven't been rated?
