lol, I totally understand the reference...everybody that reads the name for the first time always says "What's...dead...mow...five??"
I'm really surprised you haven't heard of Sofi Needs a Ladder! It's one of the 3 most popular tracks on his new album 4x4=12. It's even been played on the (pop music) radio a few times I think.
Yeah, I guess it would be "complex electro" or whatever lol. Still, it doesn't always have to be complex and chopped up, I just generally love it when it's chopped up in general...adds to the funk and groove. Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy1dYFGkPUE&ob=av2e , 0:30 especially has a cool sorta-swingish feel) and Daft Punk's "Face To Face" (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKJfJMMsqX4&ob=av2e) are good examples of how it's got slight choppiness but it's not a widespread melody over tons of instruments and octaves. I don't know if that's really complex electro, but it has that feel if you will.
Anyway, I like it all. And I really like every Madeon track lol. Shuriken is awesome (especially since it's free right from his Soundcloud in high quality), especially the second time the chorus goes in where he starts adding a little bit to it (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmc8AhGskLs , 2:00 and onward). Also, the part at 2:28...LOOOVE that little whirly-gig melody there. But yeah, the Yelle track, the Pendulum track, the originals (For You, Shuriken), the Deadmau5 track, Pop Culture, etc, just everything is awesome from him lol. Heard them all...really can't wait to see what he makes next.
