I went to the terraformer and then it just kept crashing each time i open it so is there any other way to make a terrain w/o the terraformer?

Nope, you need terraformer! I would suggest reinstalling it.

If your computer keeps crashing when you go into the Terraformer mode, you may be running a computer that doesn't have enough RAM. The Terraformer just makes hills and valleys. To make the actual snow surface you have to go elsewhere. Here's where you go. In the "Editor" mode where you put down your track, go to the top of the screen and click on "Scenery". A drop down box will appear. Go down and click on "Terrain Settings...". Another box will appear. In the middle of that box you'll see "Land". Go to the "Browse" button and click it. You'll see all sorts of "tera textures". Scroll down until you see "Snow Terrain". Click it and click open. When you start the simulator, you'll see a snowy ground. If you've downloaded other people's tracks with their custom terrain, don't load their custom terrain on your coaster because it won't show up when people download your coaster.

Try not to mess with the few nodes around the outer borders. Moving those often makes my Terraformer crash for whatever reason.

You don't HAVE to apply textures in the Editor. It's easier (and more advanced) in the Terraformer itself.

Just a clarification. [:)]

vista has problems running programs that only use 1GB of ram. i would recommend upgrading to at least 4 GB of ram or upgrade to windows 7 whichever is cheaper or easier for you.
