That's all, folks! The contest is now closed.

A grand total of 10 tracks have been received.

JUDGMENT INFORMATION:

Each person who submitted an entry, please download all of the other players' entries from the following links if you haven't already.

NightwindElf - "Deep Purple"
richie5126 - "Molt"
CKidd - "Iron Giant"
boneplaya - "What it Could Have Been"
Mrfeeny - "ADALWOLF"
markhudson17 - "Sonic Screamer"
BeastRider - "Steel"
gazag - "3XL"
Jonny Richey - "Magnum-8
Bottom Feeder 13 - "The Victim"

HOW TO JUDGE:

All you have to do is make a post in this topic within the next week, in which you must rank all 9 of the other players' contest entries (not including your own) from best to worst. (Please post them as a numeric list, with the best coaster labeled "1" and the worst coaster labeled "9" so that there is no confusion.)

The winner of the contest will be the coaster that receives the highest average vote.

Please ignore the contest restrictions when rating coasters. (Example: rating a coaster 9th because you believe it should be disqualified.) I will be the one administering the official disqualifications once the votes have been cast. Plus, the person building the coaster would probably like to know where they would have ranked if they were not disqualified. So, yeah, I'll deal with the template issues, you deal with rating the coasters based on Technical, Adrenaline, and Originality.

You are not required to rate any of the coasters, just to rank them. If you just submit a list numbered 1 to 9 with no explanation, that's fine. If you want to include reasons why along with the rankings, that's fine too. If you want to fully rate every single one of the coasters along with the rankings... you have too much free time. [:p]

Anyway, once again, just to clarify, you have ONE WEEK to do this. If you do not submit your rankings by next Monday, October 31, your track will be disqualified.

That is all.

Have fun, and good luck to everyone!

I will also be rating every single one of the coasters myself, independent of the votes that determine the actual winner of the contest, just to make sure everyone gets at least one nice long detailed rate on their coaster.

ohh ok, i rated them in the exchange lol, my mistake

anyway here are my very short ratings and positions

deep purple
abit of an all over the place type track. the layout was ok but the elements were misshaped, the MCBR was no where mid corse, would of been nice to see it abit later.
i agree with CK that the lift hill and first drop were to steep. yes arrow made some near vertical drops but they banked either left or right

5.67

molt
where was the arrow influence in this coaster?

many many problems with this, the ovious one is the constant use of the same element which is a cutback, just over and over and over. the forces were totally out of control in all seats and on 95% of the elements. the bottom and the top of the lift hill werent in line with the center of the hill and just overall there seemes to be a distinct lack of effort into the track and the layout.
4

iron giant
a very original track but one hell of alot of really bad shapeing

the first hills and the final bunny hills were all over the place and not in line, the banking and shaping especially on the high corkscrew were awful even for an arrow which lead to some forces that were way to high so unfortunetly dragged the adrenaline down

overall an original layout with classic elements but some shaping issues
7.67

what it could of been
this was more like arrow had. lots of straight bunny hills and some parts where they had actually managed to make a decent transition only to ruin it on the lats

a fairly good layout and some nece negertive forced coupled with the high lats in the right places made this feel very arrow-ish with mabye a little big of morgan thrown in for good measure
8.5

adalwolf
this coaster was more morgan than arrow with its long swooping drops. the final straight bunny hills were almost like you forgot it was surposed to be an arrow then messed a few corners and hills up to compensate.
the layout though basic fits nicely but i think it would of benefitted withought the loop as it didnt add much to the overall layout. the supports though prefab were nicely touched up
8.17

sonic screamer
some good control over the forces here but with quite alot of prefab elements and unececerry stuff. some places it was heartlined and others it wasent for some reason. the hills were fine with hardly any smooth transitions which is good for arrow. the layout was ok but seemed like it was built to the grid.
6.67

steel
did you read the contest rules? you are DQed for useing transport wheels

the support work was woodie prefab. ok not a bad idea to use that as it looke sorta like it should but the upstop wheels are now completely wiped off the trains. next time use the supports then select all the track and raise it all a little so the wheels will clear it.
the passengers heads all got split open by the massive bump on the mid corse break then there brains got spued all over the park by the lateral forces then ripped out by the negertive forces.
this coaster was overall poor
2.67

magnum-8
techinally like an arrow would design but there was quite a few floors. the slowdown near the end of the layout and in the big turn arround really killed the adrenaline. useing the same element (loop) over and over again got kinda boring. yes arrow liked to use mulipul loops but 5 is abit much. the entrance to the corkscrews was just like arrow would of made. but unfortunetly the floors deminished the overall score
6.58

the victim
newtoned to the nuts this had no 1989 arrowness about it. far to smooth and in control it just didnt have any arrow in it.
aside from that the layout was pretty boring with slow points and the same airtime and posertive forces all the time with no mix up in what it does. this coaster didnt really encapsulate the aim of the contest.

I thought mine would be near the bottom of the list... well I needed some practice anyway, this was a good opportunity to learn. I took an Arrow 7-looper during the weekend ( I had some time off) and I learned:
-Arrow uses straight segments often
-Arrow doesn't go for steep lifts/drops unless they bank it
-Arrow is generally bumpy but not pumpy

Ranking:

1. Johnny Richey, though slow paced a little, felt the most arrowish. Little trim brakes before each set of inversions, felt the most like the 1990 7-Loopers.
2. gazag, felt a little less Arrow than Magnum-8 but better in every other sense.
3. boneplaya. Very Arrowed but layout was somewhat repetitive, way too many bunny hops. Not bad but couldve used some variety.
4. markhudson17- first of the partially good coasters. Nice layout but sort of lost adrenaline partway through.
5. Bottom Feeder 13- good coaster, but not Arrowed at all.
6. CKidd, realistic and the most Arrow of the middle class but was jerky at some of the turns.
7. Mrfeeny: don't know how, but didn't quite have the feeling of an Arrow with tight, simple turns and high hills.
8. NightwindElf-great support work and track work, but was way too short. just when the ride was getting good the coaster stopped.
9. beastrider- too intense[:(].

1. boneplaya: ?????????What it could have been?????????
This was ultimately my favorite. The layout was very intense, but still very arrow-like, and mostly retaining structural integrity. The only thing I would change is the transition between turns after the second hill, to make it a straight section of track rotating around one rail. The one you have seems too ?????????modern????????? and would have been more expensive to build.

2. gazag: ?????????3XL?????????
This would have been a legend????????? while it lasted. Seeing past trends, unfortunately this would probably have been torn down by now, due to it's intensity. The layout is amazing, everything from the inversions to the final helixes. The shaping was mostly arrow; it just needed to rotate around one rail, instead of the track centerline.

3. Mrfeeny: ?????????ADALWOLF?????????
This was a very solid ride. The only thing that I didn't like was the loop????????? it stuck out too far off to the side, and now the ride needs over the shoulder restraints. This ride would be perfect if it had a large airtime hill instead of the vertical loop?????????. and maybe closer to the rest of the layout. I guess part of the waterpark can still be built there, it just wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing.

4. CKidd: ?????????Iron Giant?????????
This was somewhat similar to Adalwolf, though more out-and-back. Your use of the Drachen Fire style drop was pretty good, and nice helixes. What mainly made me rank Adalwolf higher was that it had better shaping, which was also more arrow-like. Also, Adalwolf had a much more solid ending.

5. Bottm_Feeder_13: ?????????The Victim?????????
While not specific to the time period, the basic layout was good, and could have been ranked much higher if hand-built instead of Newton?????????d. I could see vekoma or the late arrow shaping like this, other than the second big hill being a little steep.

6. markhudson17: ?????????Sonic Screamer?????????
The shaping was generally good, but the layout was very poorly thought out. For starters, arrow did not favor cobra rolls; the only reason Drachen Fire had one was because it was based on a B&M layout. A boomerang element/batwing would have made more sense. There were no inversions before that, and the hills were straight and not very steep. Some parts looked like they were made in RCT: which is sometimes fine for an arrow, but the lacking of steepness is what really affected your score, besides the cobra roll.

7. NightwindElf: ?????????Deep Purple?????????
Smooth (a bit too smooth for an arrow), but too steep for the time period, features uncreative elements, and is way too short for such a tall ride. Plus the mid-course-brake-run makes no sense. Supports were pretty bad, but at least you put in some effort.

8. richie5126: ?????????Molt?????????
This was all over the place. Pretty bad shaping, and excessive and unrealistic use of cutbacks. The layout leaves little room for a waterpark expansion, and pretty much uselessly takes up space. I at least applaud you for having lots of airtime hills throughout the ride.

9. BeastRider: ?????????Steel?????????
Dude, I'm gonna admit, this is pretty terrible. You?????????re clearly new to NoLimits, we've all been there before, weather we admit it or not, so I'm not gonna tell you that your coaster looks like a recreation of Magnum done by a retarded child :P. But, keep practicing, and be willing to take advice from other people.

I'll be able to put up rates tomorrow. I have an exam in the morning so I've been a bit busy.

EDIT: I can only download 3 tracks a day so it might take a little longer than a day.

1: Gazag "3XL": I thought this ride had the best shaping, I thought it was a little too long though, It wasn't much higher than other mega-loopers but it was a much longer and lost it's speed during the second half.

2: Boneplayer "What could Have Been": This was a fun ride, but unfortunately there wasn't anything that surprised me with it. the supports were very good and I liked the custom station.

3: Jonny Richiy "Magnum-8": The rides shaping could use some work but it was decent. There were a lot of tunnel test failures and the layout got repetitive toward the end. YOu did a good job with supporting it and it was a fun ride overall.

4: CKidd "Iron Giant": It thought this was a good layout and fun ride but there were tons of shaping problems and the trackwork had a lot of pumps in it. The supports were good if spaced a little far apart.

5: MarkHudson17 "Sonic Screamer": The shaping was okay in parts but I thought your banking transitions were too quick even for arrow. There were a lot of pre-fab elements in there and I would have liked to see more effort in the supports.

6: Bottom_Feeder_13 "The Victim": First of all Newton is not what you want to be using to create and arrow coaster. The layout was decent but the shaping was way off. I like that you put in the time to create custom supports but they were a little overkill.

7: NightwindElf "Deep Purple": Once again I applaud the effort for custom supports but yours still could use a lot of work such as unnecessary amount of flanges and such. The layout was everywhere with no real thought out direction. The MCBR was way too early and the first drop was also too steep.

8: richie5126 "Molt": This ride needs a lot of work. First off you don't need overbank turns for almost every direction change. Also the shaping on the elements was terrible. Supports could use a lot of work and layout aimlessly meandered about.

9: Beast Rider "Steel": Your layout in no way was original and looks like you built it right on top of Magnum XL-200's path. Supports stick through the track and collide with the trains and you built your station on top of a path that was supposed to be clear. I think you need to look at the rules more closely before you enter a contest.
