Was at the park today and took this;

Anyone got any more info? It's in the entrance to the forbidden valley and is obviously sticking to the Nemesis theme, but could it be a new flat ride, or just a re-theme of the old Dynamo ride that was in this location a few years ago?

While I was at the park, I rode in the monorail with the driver (don't ask [lol]);

Basically, I asked him if he had any information about the ride and he said not really, but that he knew it had something to do with going underground, which got me slightly excited... until I asked about SW7, which he told me was going to stretched from the Log Flume area, all the way to where Nemesis and Air are. At which point, I assumed all previous information null and void, as he was obviously a lying toe-rag [lol]

Anyway, tl;dr: Anyone got any decent info on a possible new Nemesis themed flat ride for AT in 2012?

I would very much doubt it, personally. The boarding seems to suggest that something will be in this location (about 100 yards up from the Nemesis entrance), that will be themed after Nemesis' theme. The space in question suggests a fairly standard sized flat ride of some sort. There has been a flat in this location before, which made me wonder, initially, if the same ride may return with a retheme...

One must never rely on the words of a general employee...

^^I was talking to _alton earlier this week and he said that after the park polled guests, they found out Nemesis was really their only gem. So in some ways I would think they wouldn't touch it... but it could go the opposite way too- They want to touch up the ride perhaps, and prolong its popularity? However I hope they don't ruin it.

OH JAKE HAS AN IDEA- Maybe it will be a drop tower and the majority of it will be underground. Since Alton Towers must retain the height limit below the trees?

I really like the idea of something going underground lol.

Pretty much says it all:

http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20 ... nderground

It's gonna be an indoor drop tower, which will send you down, not up. Like the ride called Extremis at the London Dungeons (also owned by the same company that owns Alton, Merlin Entertainment).

^^Essentially what it is rumoured to be. Underground drop tower(s)/dark ride from these guys:
http://www.abc-engineering.ch/

In fact the plans for the ride's surface buildings and 6m excavation have now been accepted by the council. TowersNerd have some concept artwork here:

Another exciting development for 2012

Well, jolly good show, chaps. Question, officially, answered.

I guess this means that the Monorail driver wasn't a total liar then. I still severely doubt his notion that SW7 will be the longest coaster in the world [lol]

Yeah its definitely similar to that ride they have in the London dungeon, its basically just an underground drop tower.

Dragon2000 posted the right link, its rumoured to be either the "Dark Ride - Vertical Dark Ride" OR "Tower Dark Ride - Freefall tower".

FOR 2013 - SW7

I think we will see the removal of the Flume and the introduction of a B&M Launch coaster in the flumes current location.
Lance at Screamscape has several rumours which point to this conclusion.
Check out this article about a teaser poster found indicating the possible removal of the flume: http://www.ukparknews.co.uk/entry/cms/?p=6097

A person also spotted height check balloons this year around the flume area:
http://forum.towerstimes.co.uk/viewtopi ... =2&t=27641

So I definitely reckon the flume is being removed next year - it is 30 years old now and has seen better days.

As for the rumour that it is a B&M launch coaster for 2013, these are just screamscape sources, view them here:

Scroll down to the SW7 section.

alton_

There is an SW7 thread if you'd like to add some of the things you've said, to it:

We'd got as far as concluding the Flume was going, to be replaced by a B&M, but the rumour it would be a launcher is new to me!

I dont think we should rely on the screamscape one, although I would love to see a launched B&M.
