You've got to be EFFING KIDDING ME!!!! That is one of only a few great flume rides left in the country...we at least KBF hasn't made any mention of theirs being removed.

KBF doesnt seem to have a problem getting rid of classic rides though so dont hold on too tight

Who ever thought of this idea is now on my personal list of people deserving of assassination, not to mention now has my permission to go stick that idea in any number of bodily orifices.

There goes most likely one of the best log flumes ever made, at least I managed to get in a few last rides 2 weeks ago. May it forever rest in peace.

I couldn't have said it better myself. too bad my last ride was over 5 years ago. SMH for passing up numerous invites to go to sfmm the last few years.

I have never ridden it, yet it looks amazing. This is the second ride they're removing from Magic Mountain this year, I wonder why?

You guys realize how much it costs to keep these things running? Fiberglass rots especially when it holds water for 40 years and parts aren't available anymore, making them much more costly to have made by machine shops. Yeah it sucks, flumes are fun, but does the ridership really justify the cost?

Now that you point it out it makes sense, but cant they find a way to make their own?

Most parks don't have large fabrication/machine shops, especially not on the scale to keep up with the constant supply of parts these older rides need. Nevermind large scale fiberglass fabrication which I don't think can be done in house, and is likely what this ride needs.

CNC machines run in the hundreds of thousands-millions, and even older manual mills and lathes are in the upper tens of thousands range, not really practical for parks to have that type of machinery. My dad is a machinist at a small shop and even they only have one small CNC machine and three older manual milling machines, and a couple older manual lathes. And they are a dedicated shop, that's the stuff they do full time, unlike a park where a shop is very limited in operation on the fabrication end of things.

from the POV I saw, this looks like the Boulder Dasb of log flumes..... why the hell would they even consider removing it????

Who knows, maybe they have something planned for that space.

Well they probably want the coaster record back, although I don't see why they wouldn't just expand more again. Maybe a terrain coaster somewhere in there?

Log Jammer? Get rid of Jet Stream, that ride is crap compared to Log Jammer. Its also fiberglass and the only difference is that it has different boats.

^^Sadly enough log jammer is built on a prime piece of real estate for the park while jet stream takes up almost no previously used space, eg if you remove it whatever you build in its spot has to be built around ninja like it its rather than just building on a piece of hillside with nothing on it except trees.

you may have missed the full point of being an enthusiast.. it's 100 percent "counter practical" we dont need rollercoasters to get us to work and back ,and theres much better and more important things we could do with the time and money we spend on rides and parks, but we choose something inherently impractical on it's own to be enthusiastic about . i for one understand the concept of practicality, but i choose to ignore it in favor of my enthusiasm .

can someone make a template for that space of land and uplooad it for a contest
and see who can make a better coaster in that spot type contes

but it does suck that they are getting rid of it.

The constant complaining is getting old. You can be enthusiastic about something and still understand that things happen for reasons other than big bad Six Flags just feeling like pissing you off that particular day.

nobody's saying that six flags just does this to piss us off, just that it does.

I'm just not quick to believe these things.

For years everyone told me that Whizzer was on the chopping block..... stuff like "It's hard to maintain, hard to make parts".... etc.

Then I found out from professionals I trust that it's actually a low maintenance ride, runs easily except in the rain, and is supported by THREE manufacturers today. Gerstlauer was actually one of Schwarzkopf's employees, and he owns the factory now, which is majorly unchanged.

Maintenance isn't always the reason, especially with a company as unpredictable as Six Flags.
