There has been an important change to the ratings rule.In the past users were not allowed to rate a track while having one up that week. This has been revoked and any user can rate any track, even if it is in the same medal week/month as there own.

The new ruling on the Track Upload page is as follows:

'Users are able to rate tracks even if they have a track that is eligible for an award. Users however are not permitted to delibrately downrate other tracks to try and gain a better position that week. If a staff member does find a violation of this rule, they will remove the rating and disqualify you for that week/month. Repeat offenders are subject to higher discipline.'

I would like to ask you all if you find what you think to be a breach of this rule that you report it through the Post All Complaints here thread. This way it will be flagged for staff to deal with it.

I hope you all enjoy a new found freedom.

Shake shake shake shake my head.

Who are you to decide whether a rate that happened to place another person's track below the rater's track is illegitimate?

Agreed^. That rule prevented from cheating like this, and if you just enabled it to get more ratings/raters I say it's not that smart considering most people who don't rate don't do it because they're lazy, just like me.

The only time I've ever been 'more inclined' (I'm assuming this is a feat to increase ratings... not sure what the reasoning was) to rate a track when I've had a track up was to put another track in what I believed to be its proper position- usually below mine.

So therefore I will not be able to participate in this. If you want more ratings to happen, you have to put some CoasterSims.com in this bitch.

gerst, while most of us may agree that you are a decent designer, you are not the only one who can create a good ride. get off your high horse and stop being an asshole. Who the hell do you think you are to decide that no one else can design a better ride than you. I actually think the removal of that rule is a great idea. As for the "how can you tell who is downrating just to improve their standings for the week." comment, its actually really easy. Common sense will tell you what is fair and what is not.

Dude you need to learn sarcasm from seriousness. The comment about my rides and others' rides was not the point of my post- the point being that having a track up during the week doesn't greatly incline the motivation to rate- it was a joke. Read the important part and stop crying.

You do realize sarcasm does not translate well in written form, right?

It does when you sprinkle your paragraph with [lol]s.

But on topic, I think the rule change won't actually change anything. The only thing I can see changing is newbies dumping on good rides to make their ride look better. And that's a bad thing. I don't think it will increase rates by much since those who really take time to rate rarely have tracks up in the first place, and thus are normally allowed to rate; they just don't.

why does it have to be so complicated? put a decent rating and done, the downloaders will grade you more critically than the other contestants anyway since theyre usually the ones that decide a good coaster from another. All of my tracks are horrible compared to others, I could try and sabotage another track but im still not going to get the top rating for the week, because other members even out that average.

Oh lordy I suppose I did not need to make that post so forget all that, I'm sorry and you're right lol no more facetiousness but- I think this new rule will be fine there are just a very few select discrepancies that may or may not cause any problems, just pointing them out.

Guys, this rule wasn't in place until a couple of years ago. We survived just fine before it was put into effect, and we'll survive just fine now that it's gone again.

And actually, weeks that I have tracks up are one of the few times that I actually feel like rating coasters on the exchange, so I think it will lead to more, even if the staff has to deal with a few immature noobs downrating.

I never said I was, but, when it comes to rating, I think I am pretty good. Those who cant do, teach, right? anyway, you are missing the point again Jonny. The whole point of my post is to reiterate the fact that there are people on this site who need to get over themselves, if your track receives a poor rating now, it will probably receive a poor rating in the future; same goes for the good rates. Am I seriously the only rational person on this site? If you think about it, it really is not that hard to differentiate the undeserving poor rates from the deserving ones. Come one, its COMMON F'ING SENSE people.

you shouldnt build for rates tho. You should build for yourself, with rates being extra motivation to finish.

I build for myself because everyone that rates spits out technical jargon as if it was a real life rollercoaster [lol]

My sentiments exactly. If I did not like my rides, I would not post them.

I will hold you to the old ruling then that is fine. Not everyone is like you though and there will always be someone who is negative about change, this can't be helped.

You must agree it is sure that dumbasses will downrate decent rides because they're so egocentric and they want their shitty ride to be at the top.
But I guess you thought before you abolished the rule so, ok. [:)] Wait & see.

Yes LeFLO I am expecting some down rating but there is a channel to complain through if anyone thinks that this has happened. I think as a hole it will be minimal though and manageable.
