That would be a really good idea if it could be automated. The problem? It can't, really. Requiring people to rate posts would end badly, I think. Most people wouldn't do it, and the site's traffic would go way down.

Not really.. It would be just like how it is now... With the more posts you make, the more you appear to be helping on the site.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Then I misunderstood. However, if it's a simple by-post counter that determines your "worth" as a member, that's a terrible metric (see cool5). In order for that type of system to have any merit, I really believe that it would have to be on a voting basis, which I just don't see being feasible.

"I'll +rep you if you give my track a good rating."

^ That's what I see being a possible problem with a vote-based reputation system.

The old design has served us well WWS! I've just changed the theme the awesome UK one I made years back, Nostalgia'd big time. Would be a shame to see the tracks go, but I think it would be for the better

If we restart, we should have the option to re-upload old tracks easily in a way that won't clog up the exchange/recent track list.

Is it possible to simply archive the old track collection? Store it all somewhere?

I didnt vote but I say start with a new site and copy the old database over to the new one so everything stays the same and you have more options. If they say it cant be done then their wrong, anything can be done.

That's right. Anything can be done guys. Create an anti-gravity machine while you are at it. That and it would be really cool create a space shuttle that could fly into the sun so I could see what that big ball of hot gas looks like from within.

This isn't a simple database. If it was simple, I would just have Mikey do it. The database is quite complex.

so if we start over, would we have to re-register our accounts as well? (sorry if this was already covered and/or missed something)

no you wouldn't have to re-register BUT if your emails address in your profile is wrong, then you wouldn't be able to recover the pwd to login as all passwords would be reset.

Would it be possible to archive all the old tracks and leave it sitting around somewhere? If so, I'm all for it.

In either case, this is something best timed with the release of NL2 where possible, although it may already be too late.
