Anyone who thinks nl2 is dead is a dumbass, he said "Quitting is not really an option because the project is too far already..." and that was posted July 2010.

No matter if there is an update before 2012, I still believe NL2 will be finished.

in nl2 there should be a option to have your train go backwards or have a dueling coaster with 2 separate stations

"there will be switches for dual stations, normal switches for storage tracks and transfer tracks. Also there will be different kind of modes for the switches, e.g. shifting or rotating switches. Depending on the coaster-style, even horizontally and vertically switching tracks can be chosen. [ol]"

Vekoma is using a thrill-lift technique or something based on oil drilling, wonder if NL2 will let you do that...

What? People need to learn to read the site to know what they want, and what nl2 already has. I would expect better from highthrills though, seeing he has been a member of this site for a while.

He's the dumbass? What, because he doesn't sift through every bit of info on that site? All he said was that he wants that; didn't even ask if it was in it or anything. Hmmm...

Well when he says "there should be..." I get the impression that he doesn't know that that is already a feature in nl2.

what coaster styles are you anticipating? Better be some sort of 4d coaster (intamin or arrow), if not that then at least maybe a way to create custom trains in a 3ds modeling program...then some of the coasters with oddly-shaped trains can be recreated perfectly with enough skill

That's not a bad idea. I would like to see something like the Magnum trains.

I like the idea of making your own trains. Maybe we could after this comes out upload and download train styles to and from the exchange? I wouldn't be making any but I sure as hell would be using the overachievers who did upload! lol

maybe with the 3d thing wingriders dont have to be an individual style. Also 3d would allow for 3d people riding!

I would say something like 3d cartexture that you could modify in any 3d program, it probably won't happen but would be a cool idea.

I think me and a few others proposed that idea. RCT3 players do it all the time. However, the general argument against was that there would be a lot of poop trains too, overall making the game worse.

I'd still be all for it though...you could have some sick themed trains.

The F.A.Q. section says, 4D coasters will be included.

Also I would like support nodes that you can move along supports. Just like the track nodes.

I'd imagine if they want to maintain the same functionality of cartextures from NL1.x, NL2 cartextures would probably let you change the new bumpmaps, normal maps, specular, etc. Or they might introduce an interface that lets you change the hood logo and various parts, but such an interface will probably be a lot more limited in options. NL's updated steel coaster trains already limited a few options, such as the texture on the wheels.

In any case, modeling with NL2 should be interesting as it'll support many more features such as those normal maps.

Did ole say what kind they would be? because zacspins and arrow 4ds have very different physics and overall feel to them.

Pretty sure its expected to be the Arrow 4D. Zacspins are NOT 4D. Zacspins are free spinning (to an extent) unlike the controlled rotation of an Arrow 4D
