Since this is the most active of the games-related forums I decided to post here, is this on anyone's radar?

It's called Maximum Roller Coaster, an indie game entrant in the 2012 Independent Games Festival. One look at the shaping in the trailer will make your skin crawl, but the game itself has potential (although it clearly borrows heavily from NL). If nothing else, it's interesting to see another take on a roller coaster design game with a simplified approach to design and slightly more robust gfx engine.

I wonder if all the ambient object can be modified/customized or if they're just there to be there.

I discovered this game a few weeks ago, and as you said, it's not even close to NL nor RCT3, but for a freeware (at least the demo), I find this game pretty. The models are nice and lively.

Edit : Here's a pic I took :

All the items are animated, you've got a free-walk mode, screams and sounds from passengers...

That Suspended Swinging Coaster had me both cringing and laughing at the same time.

I can't believe they charge this much for such a small program. For less than twice the price you can get NL, which is more than 10 times better.

Nevertheless, I will check out the demo.

This game is $20 USD while NL is $30 USD.

That's what I said right, 'less than twice' ?

Meh, building coasters in it is a pain in the butt. I downloaded it and messed around for a few minutes before saying screw it and uninstalling.

This looks very sweet but the downside of this you are only limited to the front seat only. With SM and NL you can choose any coaster seat. From front to rear.

Me too, realistically, those cars should not be inverting, unless it is running at an insane speed so the centripetal force can keep the cars from over extending and decoupling/derailing.

Tracks are such a pain in the ass to build. Neat idea - just needs some more work.

A suspended coaster could easily invert...as long as the vertical force at the top of the loop was more than 0. It doesn't even have to be more than 1.
