and b) I thought it was a worlds first because it races/duels with its self. Hint two lifts, you duel with the alternating car.

There's no doubt that will happen, but... is that really a world 1st? Are there really no other coasters in the world where 2 trains on different block sections might appear to interact on the occassions when the timing was correct? And I bet it would only actually 'duel' with the train on the other block about 10% of the time, surely? What with differing loading times and all, I really don't know how they could claim that a world first. But knowing Alton Towers, they probably would do, so you're probably right [lol]

If they really wanted to, they could alter the speed of the train on the second lift to make it duel with the first. Kind of like on dueling dragons when the first train to be dispatched slows down to let the other catch up by the time it gets to the top of the lift. Could look very cool, but I agree, not exacly a world's first.

Would you put it past Merlin to claim it was, though?

Where is the beyond vertical drop? Alton_ is being aggressive and rude and ridiculous and thinks this is not Gerstlauer. Is there a layout picture that actually shows a beyond vertical drop? He might have a point...

There is no beyond vertical drop, not in those plans anyway, which I find to be the most conclusive evidence that it isn't a EF at least - as there has never been a EF without a beyond vertical drop.

Maybe they're doing an Anubis/Lynet thing, without the launching. Just a different kind of Gerstlauer roller coaster.

Maybe they don't want to divert/one-up Oblivion's novelty attribute [even though it's an out-dated novelty, and they could do so with reason...] so they didn't want a beyond vert. drop.

merlin and alton had bad relations after a previous coaster fell through. it has been confirmed by alton that its a modified eurofighter with 4 across trains but 3 rows instead of 2

Why is so hard to believe that an eurofighter doesn't have to a beyond vertical drop? Theres a B&M invert with no pre-drop, anything can happen.
What are these for?

^It's not hard to believe (when it comes out as officially released, of course we will believe it), it's just easy to not believe. We're just considering all the options.
The 'B&M Invert without a pre-drop' statement preceding the 'anything is possible' statement is a little aggressive for this instance... it would be more appropriate to say 'A B&M Invert without an inversion,' if that were to exist [;)]

^^^Can you for once just tell us exactly where you get your information from? When and how did Alton Towers confirm this?

I am happy they are finally placing a ride where Black Hole was but just wished they would use the tent/structure for the new ride.

No you gotta pull an SFGAm and downgrade from a spinning mouse to a nonspinning mouse in a box.

Looks like the groundworks are well and truly underway!

Double Post; sue me.

Seems like the advertising has gone up around the park.

Not sure really what the theme is meant to be, from that I'd say it's something to do with LSD. The ride has a new website, too: http://www.altontowers.com/2013/

In other news, steel has begun to arrive on site (but not track steel) and the groundworks look well advanced.

Also; the NoLimits recreation has been massively updated by the creator:

Although quite how much of that theming is just guess work, I don't really know - but if it ends up looking something like that I'd be happy. However, now the "theme" has emerged on the banners and advertising, it seems the theming in the video is probably not right.

EDIT:

Look just how deep they're digging down! I'm guessing that their intention is to create a similar kind of ride experience to Nemesis - which I am assuming we're all quite happy about, I know I am!
