I would like to try this, seeing as more original designs are favorable.

I'll give it a whirl...might get me out of my "no more designing" slump.

No, you can't. Unless you can fit an overbank under them.

Im in this time, and will hopefully make it to the second round! Looks like an awesome template, can't wait to get started.
Friendship is like peeing. Everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling it brings.

I have to say I'm really disappointed with the restrictions in the blue box. 130 feet minimum is extremely hard to have. I'm making a second hill that goes right off of my 300 foot drop and I'm still not having enough speed to clear the blue area, even with the farthest distance angle option given my inputs. It's like it has to be a 0.5G hill, which would suck so bad.

The hill itself is massive too...I don't understand how anybody could clear this area without an MCBR. It's literally impossible.

I guess I'll just have to raise my coaster up 100 feet and terraform it...

I agree, the restrictions on the template almost make it impossible to get to the river, without being forced to make some shitty element. Thus ruining the creativity of the element.

I think if it was 130 feet minimum over the red area that would be great. Or at least a reduced blue box size (or reduced blue box minimum height). I had the turn and all crafted very well earlier and the hill definitely cleared the area just fine...it just wasn't 140 feet over all of it entirely. So now I have a really janked-up turn that doesn't flow at all and it's up high off the ground.

Even if the template doesn't get changed, I'm going to keep my now-crappy trackwork because I think the hill I put in place would be really epic. But it has really hindered the idea.

I'm fashioning a crude layout at the moment. It'll remain that way, since my NoLimits skills never blossomed beyond the rudimentary, but it seems a fun (and a hair more challenging than normal) contest nonetheless.

Is it necessary that the new coaster pass over the old?

Perhaps you should stop complaining and deal with the rules the way they are. It seems like everybody else is doing this.

And trust me, there are many ways to utilize the blue area, if you want to use it in the first place. I won't list the options here, cos that would not be fair to the ones who are being creative. But there are more things to build over the blue area than just a turn or a hill with an MCBR.

who says low means shitty element? At that speed the closer you stay to the ground the faster the ride feels.

Cool contest as usual. Those powerlines are going to provide a shocking experience. [:D]

Yeah and anyway this tournament is meant to be hard. Is a good challenge I think.

So are all of the typical newton elements that make all of their rides the exact same thing not fitting well?

No, I wanted an SROS style turn in and such, but I'm having to resort to Newton-y junk because SROS turns take up too much space and simple B&M curvy pull-ups are too short and don't make the hill clear the area.

But I see what I can do instead now, so I'll try something different. [:)]

I'm working on a hand built layout right now to see what will fit/work and what won't. I'm pretty pleased with it so far - but I haven't yet (and probably won't) go through the "existing coaster" box.

Are we allowed to use 3d objects? As in track spines, footers, lift stairs, buildings, etc?

If my computer can't load your track properly I'm going to start deleting 3ds

Yes. However, the same limitation apply on where the scenery and 3ds can and cannot go.
