I swear, sometimes I think that they just don't think we'll notice at some point. I mean, as soon as the bill went viral Obama promised to veto it, but not before. Strange...

IMHO the only reason I think the OA is threatening a veto is because of election season. I actually don't mind that as long as people get that that's the only reason he is doing it and therefore should not think better of him. As long as it gets some of the acts out.

Obama also threatened to veto the National Defense Authorization Act, and then he signed it into law on New Years Eve making sure that the clause for indefinite detention without charge or trial remained.

Yeah, you did use it wrong. But the government is becoming more and more of "big brother". In the sense that our lives as private citizens are far from private. The government has its nose shoved so far into our business, they can smell what I ate for dinner last night.

That's just because you haven't brushed your teeth [:)]. No, all jokes aside, America's Government is not becoming like a Big Brother. At least not until they actually pass something like CISPA (TSA does not help).

"Big Brother" is typically used in reference to the book "1984" - fyi.

god im just tired of them constantly trying to infringe on our rights its like they don't learn from previous attempts, not to mention it seems like when ever they make a bill like this they almost always never think it through enough before they propose it. SIGH

I doubt it. That's obviously part of the reason, but I think a lot of it is the fact that as soon as the Internet made our voice heard, he (and the rest of the government) said, "Dammit, they noticed...well, we can just toss this off as a mistake and add some amendments to it to make it not so bad." But like I said, part of it is certainly because it's election season, but if he really wanted votes that bad come November, he'd have to promise to sign it to get the moderates on his side.

Not saying you're wrong, but I bet a lot more of the GP relate it to the TV show (which obviously is inspired by the book)... at least in the UK anyway.
