That ride looks terrible.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

Looks better than Cheetah Hunt.

^^What about it? It even has airtime. I'm definitely not disappointed considering the hoops SWSD had to jump through to even build a coaster at all. I'd say it's on the same level as Cheetah Hunt in terms as intensity, just with no roll and cooler trains.

And better banking transitions, more G's overall, and more air.

This coming from the guy that says GCI sucks because his only two rides were Wildcat and Lightning Racer?

Cheetah Hunt does way more than this little puny ride could even muster.

Fact.

This ride and Cheetah Hunt both pale in comparison to Anaconda at P.K.D.
Much better water interaction there! Plus it's an Arrow. What's not to love?
YES!

Hey now crankypants I went on Roar at Six Flags America also while it was raining and hot. It was all slicked up and still a SnoreCI. Wild One blew it out of the water, and I'd rather go on American Eagle.

I think this looks like a really neat ride and I don't see why people are bashing on it so much.

GCI sucked up until the early 2000s, that I admit. Wildcat and Gwazi is a prime example of how bad GCi used to be.

Manta at SWSD could have been something else besides a launched coaster that does very little else besides over-banked turns. Cheetah Hunt is not an extreme thrill ride. I don't know how many times I had to get that across, but it still has something that is entertaining to riders of all ages. This ride looks unbelievably tame compared to CH.

Kyle Sloane, I'm still trying to find that section of Manta that looks interesting.

Kinda got bored after the first drop... You know what's cool? Launching 30 mph into a slightly banked hill followed by a dive into a 60 mph launch into a steep hill going from 4 Gs to 0 in less than a second!

I don't think it's more intense than Cheetah Hunt, but this looks really fun.

But by using G's and speed as the backbone to your argument that makes all GCI's inferior to pretty much every company besides RCCA.

Not true. freddie would easily prove you wrong about this, Speed is pointless unless the ride actually does something with it.

For example, Millennium Force goes over 90 mph, yet has very few moments of airtime and strong Gs.
Now, Thunderhead on the other hand offers a lot more throughout its ride than Millennium Force even without the high speeds and strong Gs.

Cheetah Hunt is an example of a coaster that does take advantage of its high speeds.

Back to the original argument, Manta at SWSD does very little with its speed other than over banked turn after over banked turn.

tl;dr Speed is pointless unless the ride does something with it.

I rode Manta yesterday, and I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting much, considering I am more fond of taller and faster coasters, but for what it is, WOW! I was extremely impressed by this ride, not just because it is pretty forceful, especially for a coaster that has a max drop height of 50-60 feet, and a max speed that is lower than the speed limit on Sea World Drive. The trains are extremely comfortable as well as the restraints, and the open-air feeling just adds to it. The pre-launch sequence was done quite well and the queue is really impressive, I can't wait to see it in a couple years when all the foliage has really grown. the best part of the ride is the section right after the 2nd launch segment. I loved the ride so much, I rode it 5 times. I really have to applaud the R&D department at Sea World, they do a really good job of adding attractions that interact perfectly with surrounding exhibits, and provide opportunities for new exhibits. I realize most of it is because the city planning commission and parks departments require it, but, rather than giving up on the idea, they find ways to improve on the city's requirements and deliver world-class attractions and shows. Other park chains could learn something from this. *cough *cough* lets put a roller coaster over an old section of the parking lot and just leave it that way, I think it will look cool *cough* *cough*

Okay, Cheetah Hunt isn't very forceful. But it isn't a useless pile of crap either... very fun and great for families.

Overall Cheetah Hunt is pretty much better, but mainly because it is so much bigger than Manta. In terms of budget vs. output, I'd say both did their job: a really fun family (but not kiddie) attraction.

Once again, I make the argument that Matt does the exact type of argument when he justifies that GCI sucks.
