Just some helpful, friendly advice to you and anyone else who is learning to use nolimits.

1 Take your time when building a coaster. There is no rush/deadline to finish a project unless you join a contest here. When your coaster is done to your satisfaction then upload it.

2 Tunnel test your ride to make sure you have no objects (trees, supports, track, 3ds object, etc...) in the rider?????????s path that could cause injury or death.

3 Check your g-forces. In general Green-good, yellow-OK, red-bad. There have been many discussions here about what is acceptable and I do not want to start that up again.

4 Smooth your ride to make sure there are no bumps, pumps or jerks. This is a tough one for those of us who like to hand build. With many hours of practice you will get better. Just be patient. Tools like ahg, elemetary, newton, etc. can make this easier but they have a learning curve and take time too.

5 Take comments as there are given. Good, bad, mean, vulgar, nice, etc. Do not take it personally; just use what they say to improve your work.

6 If you are having trouble with your ride in any area just ask and someone will try to help you. There have been many good tips and tricks given here that have helped me.

7 Build what you like but be careful stating a particular style, real coaster or manufacturer. People will hold to it and be very critical if you stray from the standards.

8 Check out some of the more experience designer's rides here. It can be very helpful to see how others build rides and help you in building your own.

9 Most of all have fun. That is what the game is for. Also have fun here, that is why you and all of us joined in the first place.

Bockzilla.

<lots of valid points>

Bockzilla.

this +

10. E-Stop test your rollercoaster. Press F12 whilst the train is past the lift hill but before the brakes (or past the mcbr and before the brakes) to ensure it will stop safely.

11. Custom supports will always gain you more marks than prefab. Have a go at them, they don't take long to master :)

You realise that Bockzilla's excellent post was trying to help you?

Read through what he's put and keep it in mind going forward, because he has written some damn good advice for you.

I think, most importantly though, just try not to take insults on here personally. Remember that the person at the other end doesn't actually know you.

You're in the position that we were all in when we first started. I remember uploading a load of tracks when I was new in NoLimits and new to the site, but over time, from people's comments you learn things and apply them on your next coasters, and you keep doing this until you get better at it.

Don't be deterred by mean spirited comments, upload coasters as you wish. Over time, you'll naturally slow down your upload rate and naturally improve your coaster quality - we all go through it!

What gouldy said.

You'll eventually learn. We all went through the same thing... Kinda.

The worst part is the hazing.

Also, it is just a simulator. By all means, make realistic coasters, but remember that the best push the boundaries in some way. Don't get too grounded in reality. From experience, I can tell you that some crazy ideas work, others will fail spectacularly. But if you had fun making it, then who gives a sh*t?

I rode 6 different coasters yesterday. I must be slacking. I'll try my best to work up to 8.

gforce1994 - Apology accepted. I do understand your frustration but as I and others have said - HAVE FUN! That is why we all joined this site and have coaster simulator games. We love the rides and enjoy build them. Now, if only to get my dream job doing it for real!!!

To Mkingy - Excellent additions to the advice list. (Duh I feel stupid not including them in the first place.) I personally do not mind prefabs, when used properly. They save some time and look good but they are definitely not for everything.

To Gouldy, FT4 and others - Thanks for having my back. I have never insulted anyone here publicly and rarely comment, but when I do try to give good advice from time to time. I have been here for many, many years and really do appreciate all the comments (good and bad) on my designs as the have helped me greatly in improving my own. Believe me I have had my share of bad comments. I never take it personally. Everyone has their own opinion and is intitled to it.

If you are going to make a scene, be seen.

I'm not an expert either, and I enjoy building my coasters by hand. Sure they can sometimes be a bit rough, but come on, this site is for sharing, and ten though I like criticism, it should be constructive. So gforce1994: keep on being creative an play around with no limits. And do continue to upload them!
