La Ronde member of Six Flags park wants to add a new thrilling experience to their park as they are lacking of roller coasters. Unfortunately, since the park is located on St-Helen's island, it is running out of space. However, some of their roller coasters are not aging too well such as "Cobra" and "Super man?????????ge".

They have contacted you at Intamin to create a fast launched roller coaster over the existing space of "Super Man?????????ge". They also want you to use the extra space next to the "manitou" to create a unique ride that the visitors won't forget about soon.

The criterion are Technical/Adrenaline/Originality aspects and participants must vote for each entry. The entries shall be posted in the contest thread so they can be found easier.

The workbench is found here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/94688236/Unoffi ... 92.nltrack

Mirror :

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-DJeJ ... 3gzbzcwZTA

Additionnal rules :

- The ride must be contained in the enclosed areas (red included)
- The ride must be above 7 meters from the ground in the red areas and no terraforming is allowed in those areas
- No fundamental support nodes are permitted in the red areas, but free nodes and normal track nodes can be in the red areas only if 7 meters higher from the ground.
- The maximum train length is 3 cars
- Only one design is permitted per designer
- The station building must not overlap the red area and the non-enclosed area.
- The maximum height is 50 meters
- The maximum track length is 1100 meters
- The time limit is one month

-- The judging will be standard technical/adrenaline/originality scale and each contestant must rate each other entries.

30 degrees for a lift angle? I know most modern B&M lifts are like 40.
BTW are tools allowed?

And the tracks are not rated on trackwork? And the tunnel/E-stop test are 50%? That doen't really make sense to me.

EDIT: Also, 7 cars? I think that should be revised to 8.

AmatsuNL : Modified the lift angle, I didn't know it was 40 degrees. Yes, tools are allowed (Newton 2, etc). The trackwork is in both adrenaline and realistic supports criterion. ;)

Ajax_Coasters : dropped down the E-Tunnel test to 30 % and raised by 10 % peeps efficiency and inversions/adrenaline.

RideWarriorNation : Unfortunately, I've tried my best to make this a realistic roller coaster contest and I thought what was really missing at La Ronde (my home park) and could replace Super Man?????????ge is a B&M sit-down. :S

EDIT - Finally, I think I'll make this a launched intamin roller coaster contest such as iSpeed :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WEgV_Acn6E

I'll update the rules the sooner I can.

EDIT - changed the coaster type to launched Intamin coaster. I think it will fit more in the space actually and would be more of an awesome roller coaster. In fact, it would be the first launched roller coaster. ;)

EDIT 2 - specified some details for the support nodes.

Couple of questions/suggestions:

Judges compromise of the people that enter a track and you all have to rate each others tracks.

I see you're going for a realistic contest... Do we not have a length limitation which would represent a financial constriction? Or can it be as long, high and unrealistic as we like as long as we support it correctly...?

mkingy : Thanks for the suggestions. I've put a track height limit of 50 meters and length of 1100 meters.

EDIT - also changed the one than more entry permitted to only one entry for the judges (didn't think of that at first).

I'd gladly compete in this if the judging criteria weren't so downright obnoxious.

There's no category for shaping, and 50% of the freaking rating is on useless things like e-stop and rider capacity, which are things that have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the ride.

No shaping category? No originality category? Can we please just do the normal Technical/Adrenaline/Originality scale?

Also, yes, if you're planning on participating in this contest too, I'd recommend doing the system where every participant in the contest must judge all the other coasters in the contest, and then the winner will be picked from there. That is a very fair system, and guarantees lots of rates for everyone.

Also, the template download link isn't working for me. It's just giving me a page with a bunch of text.

cjd : I wasn't too sure with the judging aspects after all. I guess I'd just leave it to Technical/Adrenaline/Originality. The rating system seems also more appropriate too. Every participant must vote for each entry now. ;)

It's so hard to make a good contest, sorry for changing the contest rules that much. :S

I'd also recommend not giving any more than a month to finish since the time limit will keep people from getting bored.

Bottom_Feeder_13 : I drop down the time limit to one month. Two months is too much anyway. ;)

Also posted a mirror for people that the dropbox link doesn't work.

Can't you just upload the workbench as a track so we can download it? That would make a lot more sense.

KrazyKoasterKid : I've tried to upload either in a track package or .zip format and it gives me this message:

MemberID-28075-
Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0 error '80040e57'

String or binary data would be truncated.

/track_exchange/post_info.asp, line 777

Maybe it's because of the hacking attack?

All right, cool. Got it working, and I like the template. Classic contest style here. Maybe this will motivate me to actually finish a coaster for a change.

Can we change the colors you set for the track? Also, can we put catwalks over the support boundaries to make it like a path?

Uhm.. Your mirror download link isn't working so well.. It's sending me to something for Google Drive. Maybe we could work out something where you can e-mail me the track? I can pm you my e-mail if this works for you.

A.S.C : yes you can, as long as the .3DS objects are 7 meters higher from the ground in the red areas.

KrazyKoasterKid : I can do that.

No seriously some of your rules and restrictions are pretty bad chosen and your overall organisation of the contest isn't made very well.

A.S.C : the catwalks are the same as supports and track : they need to be higher than 7 meters from the ground.

Any suggestion is appreciated to make this contest better.

I think he meant using cat walks as the pathways the "x"s are supposed to represent to make it more believable
What are these for?

CKidd : ah ok, I thought he was talking about the ones on the lift hill. You can put your own pathways on the X's.
