Today, September 19, 2012 Windseeker at Knotts Bery Farm manlfunctioned leaving the 20 riders stranded 300 feet up in the air.

The ride malfuntioned about 4 p.m. It took approximately 4 hours to get the people off. No one was injured and some state they'll be going back for the Haunt event.

It's ot the first time it's malfunctioned. The last time it malfunctioned was this month on the 7th which also left some people stuck in the air.

Here's video of Knotts Scary Farm which is Knotts Halloween Haunt event. This was filmed a couple years back. It's so much better this year [:)]

Find it really intresting that most of the Windseekers have done this at least once, right around the same time too.

I love reading the comments of the public, some people say such miss informed stuff like

" People would be shell shoucked if they honestly knew the conditions of the attractions and rides they risk their lives and childrens lives on every 3mins ."

Haha this one too
" I was looking over at the steel cables, they're about that thick,' he said, holding his thumb and forefinger several inches apart, "there's a whole bunch of them so I know you can't fall." that's what they thought about the titanic too."

it was describe as people "dangling from their harnesses for hours" on the radio... only mildly misleading.

I think the media is doing a great job of making Knott's look like the villain to the general public. I don't really see Knott's as the problem here, but the ride manufacturer.

Every model of these rides that has been constructed has had some sort of similar issue. This leads me to believe it is not an operations or maintenance issue, but a design or construction issue.

These rides do not have a lot of history behind them only operating for a few years, if that. New rides based on new "revolutionary" designs always have teething problems. I have made a living fixing them.

Need some examples:

It took 7 years to get the premier first generation launch coasters working for more then a few hours at a time with out throwing a trouble light. It took 2 just to get the launch system working.

Intamin's "Great Air Racer" rides were never able to over come the design and limited control system technology available at the time. Similar to the "Windseeker" design, it had 12 planes which rotated around a 100 foot tower that was lifted hydraulically. Each plane had two separate winches that were synced electrically. You were lucky if you made it through the safety check with out issues.

Their legacy came to an end after a series of issues where the electrical synchronization stopped working and planes where left in precarious angles which required the assistance of a fire truck to evacuate guest.
